kelson Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Hello everyone now that my Camaro is finished i can work on my next build,i'm participating on a corvette build off on one of the Facebook groups,it started in july and completion date is Oct 1st.Body is primered and ready for color coats tomorrow, going to paint it Tamiya white, since i don't have any of the factory colors in my stash 4
kelson Posted August 25, 2022 Author Posted August 25, 2022 I didn't care for the kit's rally wheels and tires,so i used wheels from the 69'vette and tires from a AMT parts pack, wide ovals were probably done by 73,but i like the look, engine is mostly complete as well. 6
kelson Posted August 25, 2022 Author Posted August 25, 2022 Have most of the chassis painted as well,so things hopefully will come together quickly. 1
Monty Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I've been fascinated by C3 Corvettes since I was a little kid, to the point where I was able to buy one and keep it for 20 years. Along the way I built a number of MPC C3 Corvettes, which I prefer because of the poseable front wheels & tires and the detailed chassis (hard lines, independent half shafts etc). Yours looks to be one that originally came with real metal coil springs. Mine seemed to have too much tension, so I switched to beading wire and painted shocks. Looks like you've got a good start there, so I'll just sit back and watch it progress. 2
Bainford Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Nice, clean work. Those wheels look fantastic. 1
TransAmMike Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Sure like it Curtis. I had a '73 Coupe but small block. I always thought a real '73 454-4 speed Convertable would be cool. The Coupe model '73 is rare and expensive as hens teeth. I'm watching. 1
slusher Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Nice work Curtis, I agree the wheels ? and tires look Fantastic! 1
kelson Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 An update:the body is painted, but i think it needs some color sanding and a couple more coats, did a little test fitting with the body/chassis,so far so good. 3
kelson Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 Decided to paint the interior Tamiya wood deck tan and Tamiya light sand,i used an old Detailmaster woodgrain decal sheet for the door panels, couldn't do it by hand.I did the console by covering it with BMF and airbrushing some Vallejo black over it,then taking a sharp toothpick and carefully scraping along the edges. 1
kelson Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 Also have the dashboard done i used Bestmodelcarparts for the gauges and i used a busted drill bit from my pin vise for levers on the steering column and thats all for now.? 2
mustang1989 Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Can't go wrong with a big block Vette and you're doing a great job with the detailing so far Curtiss. Will be watching this one. 1

I can remember seeing a Monaco Orange '69 coupe sitting on the street one summer when I was "Down the Shore" in Wildwood NJ. I could not take my eyes off of it. It was like no car I had ever seen before. I was hooked. Edited September 4, 2022 by Mike C. 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Looks GREAT. Funny...I just read one of our resident whatevers calling everything MPC "trash". Looks like you've pretty well proven that to be horse exhaust. 1 1
