Another nice kit from Revell. No fit issues and fairly well detailed offering, I don't know much about accuracy but it looks ok to me. Straight from the box. Tamiya platinum gold for the body. Tamiya gold for the interior. I really like the chevy's from that decade, 1966 being my favorite model year.

Thanks for looking.

Man that came out sharp looking.  Great looking interior.  Great build as always man.  The body color is what I have been looking for.  I'm getting ready to paint my 59 Chevy El Camino.  I don't see a platinum gold so is that color the TS or A series of Tamiya paint?  What was your base coat?

Having owned a real one for many years and about 95% done this kit as my convertible I can attest that the accuracy is very, very good.

It is indeed an exceptional kit with beautiful molding and sharp detail.

EXCEPT FOR...

Those stupid blobs of misshapen, different sized, ill fitting, monstrosities they call tail lights. I spent more time on those than the chassis and engine combined and still am not happy with them so mine will sit on the shelf of doom until I get the stuff needed to scratch build them.

Everything looks great. But those rear tail light outer rings need to be chromed aswell.

And the middle one on each side should have a white center for the back uplights. There is no way to make those things look good as they came out of the box though.

Another great build. Really like the chrome - especially the front grill. Did you drop in some panel liner?

Thanks Harry, Yes, I use Tamiya panel liner on grilles and panel lines.

Sharp Impala.  I like the body color.  Hopefully Revell will reissue this kit again.

Thanks Hector.

Thanks Bob, my brain cells misfired again, I meant to say titanium gold TS87. The base coat was silver leaf from Tamiya also. When I want a darker shade, I use black as a base coat.

Thank you for pointing that out Samuel. I corrected this as best I could but like you said they are less than perfect I guess Revell ran  out of budget when it came to rear lenses. Anyway here's a photo after my feeble attempt my shaky hands could allow. At least it looks a little better.

Thanks.

I have invested about 8 hours into my tail lights and they don't look much better than that. For one thing they are three different sizes and to try to sand the large ones down means you will lose the outer ring. Even the smallest don't come close to fitting into the recess where they are supposed to go anyway. Since they are such a predominant part of the car it is a shame that they are molded so awful.

Looks better. But dont feel bad. Most people that build this kit forgets to paint those outer rings. And then NEVER fixs it. So at least you fixed it.

I have painted them 4 times now so have made up for some of the others!

Paint and trim work look great and that exterior color which I've never seen before definitely works with a '64. Is that TS-21 gold for the interior because that also works very well.

Beautiful looking Impala. The pictures look like a sales brochure from 1964. Great paint and trim and the colors all look good together. I agree with you on the 1966-year model Impala. I had a new '66 Impala SS with a 396 and 4-speed. Loved everything about it but the cost of insurance.

A very nice Impala you have here Mario - excellent build as usual  (I wouldn't care about those taillights - no kit is perfect).

Thanks Helmut, to be honest , Revell could have done better with the tail lights, they are not as good as the rest of the kit but I'm just glad it turned out ok.
