The Junkman Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 The Mustangs-first, last and always. But those Lincolns are very appealing. Could a manufacturer get away with suicide doors nowadays?

TarheelRick Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Wonder who all the suits are, definitely not a truck driver.
Mark Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Back one of those fastbacks off of the truck for me...

webestang Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 San Jose, CA. factory.........Ford had to open a plant in CA to keep up with demand. BTW my old 81 Mustang I owned from 83-87 was built there. 8 hours ago, Earl Marischal said: Dearborn? steve 1
Rodent Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 They must have had a marshalling yard at the plant. Not all of those cars were built there. Mustangs on the train leaving for other regions and the other cars on the way to West Coast dealers?
espo Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Great picture, but a posed publicity shot for sure with all the "suits" standing around.

My 81 was interesting as it was built at the San Jose plant but was not for sale in Calf. and had a slightly different exhaust for the 4 banger than the Mich. Mustang's.
Rodent Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 The old San Jose (Milpitas) Ford plant is now a shopping mall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Mall_of_the_Bay_Area

Chuck Most Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Definitely not Dearborn. Continentals only came from Wixom.
Rodent Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Google hits seem to suggest that it is the Rouge Complex. Now that I think of it, it can't be San Jose. The original assembly building is still standing and it looks nothing like that. It is a way spread out single level. It is most likely a staged publicity photo with the suits present, but if they had a marshalling yard there, cars from other plants would be present for distribution by truck.
von Zipper Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 That picture is of the Dearborn Assembly Plant The elevated road in the background is Miller Rd.
von Zipper Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 When I was in grade school they took us on a field trip to the Mustang assembly plant 2 years in a row 1967 and 1968 my dad worked for Ford Motor /Rouge Steel for 32 years which is in the same complex as the Mustang assembly plant 1

Jon Haigwood Posted October 14, 2023 Posted October 14, 2023 Looks like it is Mustangs only in the employee parking lot
