ModelcarJR Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Painted another body today. An old friend of mine always wanted a Corvette and he said if he ever got one it had to be red! So here's a salute to an old friend who has since passed. It should rub out pretty easily. Dupli-Color Bright Red and two coats of Krylon Clear lacquer. Revealed the BMF foiled Corvette badge with some lacquer thinner and a cotton swab. I'll be back to finish painting and construction later. Just trying to get some bodies painted before winter. Thanks for looking! ? 4
ModelcarJR Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Guido, Luis and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Well I ran into a problem with the red Corvette. I rubbed out the body and exposed some edges so I touched up and added another coat of clear. But that turned out cloudy and rough. I also noticed what appeared to be a glue drop on the left front fender and when I picked it off, of course, I exposed the white plastic. So this body is headed to the oven cleaner bath. I thought I had another in the closet so i looked and low and behold, a kit still in the wrapper. Since it is going to be raining and cold this weekend I quickly got this one in paint including all the parts today. I painted it Dupli-Color Bright Aqua Metallic with a tan interior. The red one will have to wait. This color is close to Lynndale Blue Metallic it appears to me so I think it will work out well. I rub it out tomorrow and start on it as soon as I finish the 2021 Charger. But I won't have plenty to do while its raining! Thanks for looking! Edited November 9, 2023 by ModelcarJR Copy text 2
customline Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 I'm a big fan of metallic blues, JR, and this is a really nice one. Party on!
ModelcarJR Posted November 10, 2023 Author Posted November 10, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Greg, Jim, and Bruce! I appreciate your comments! Rubbed out the body and hood and the body looks really good but I took a little too much off the nose of the hood so I will have to give it another coat of paint. But I'll have to wait until next week as it is going to be raining until then. Thanks for looking! ? Edited November 10, 2023 by ModelcarJR Copy text 3
Roadrunner Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I'm quite partial to blues, and this one looks great.
espo Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Great looking shade of Blue. Are you going to use the kit Hood Stinger decals, or leave it a solid color?
customline Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 That rub-through looks like a touch-up job from what I see in the photo. I would try it, John. Can't hurt.
ModelcarJR Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 Thanks, David and Jim! I appreciate your comments! David, I am going to use the hood stinger but I still want to repaint the hood. Jim, I'm just going to spray each side of the hood with one pass. I may do it with the hood in place on the body so that it blends. But first, I have to wait for better weather. Thanks for looking! ?

John, if you don't mind me asking, what are you using for spray equipment? ?
ModelcarJR Posted November 13, 2023 Author Posted November 13, 2023 Jim I don't mind at all! Dupli-Color rattle can followed by Krylon Clear Lacquer rattle can after 1/2 hour flash period.
ModelcarJR Posted November 14, 2023 Author Posted November 14, 2023 Finished the engine and have the rear suspension and tailpipes installed. Added plug wires by taking out the sides of the distributor shield and gluing the wires to the inside of the shield. No need for a coil as it is inside the shield with the distributor. Added a fuel line and drilled holes for the heater hoses. wire looms are glued to the valve covers for the two forward plug wires in each side. I'll add the air cleaner decal at final assembly. The clamp is holding the exhaust pipes in place until the glue dries. Body has also been foiled. Not too much to do there. Still waiting on the weather to repaint the hood. Thanks for looking! ? 4
Modlbldr Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Gorgeous color! Always been a fan of the 67. Your build is coming along nicely. Later-
ModelcarJR Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Bill, Tom, and David! i appreciate your comments! The interior is done. Lots of tiny detail but you can't see much with my camera. Foil, chrome pen, and some black and brown paint. Thanks for looking! ? Edited November 15, 2023 by ModelcarJR Copy text 2
ModelcarJR Posted November 16, 2023 Author Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) Interior is in and body is on! It was a tight fit but the only thing I lost was the fit of the wiper canister on the left side inner fender. I did manage to turn it upright and glue it to the floor. You really can't see it so its not a big deal. I repainted and rubbed out the hood today and it works fine. Just have to remember to pull back on it a little when closing it. Wheels and hardware next and this one should be done. Thanks for looking! ? Edited November 16, 2023 by ModelcarJR Copy text 4
