To my amazement there was a small black and white photograph of my Johan 62 Plymouth Fury and to add even more to my excitement and amazement, Rick Hanmore so graciously said in his description that it was his favorite custom rod of the NNL East. I will never forget that day or the simple kind words written by Mr. Hanmore. This will always be a very special and inspirational day in my life. Now this model was built 26 years ago, and it was my real first attempt at trying to build something for a model car show. The model is the Johan 1962 Fury with the roof being inspired by the top put on a 37 Ford by Posies (you old guys like me remember that one right?). Interior was a combination of the Testors Chezoom and Tamiya Toyota Corolla. Wheels and tires were also a combo of Chevy Chezoom and parts box tires(the rims were so big for the day?). And everything painted rattle can Plum Crazy. That special day in 1994 is something I will never forget. I also went on to meet and thank Mr. Hanmore for his kind words and you will never meet a more humble and genuinely nice person then Mr. Hanmore who truly loves this hobby and the people in it. Beautiful looking paint work and the body work is really smooth looking. Can easily see why he would enjoy your build.

Really creative concept, and excellent construction. Big congrats and thanks for sharing here...TIM I am truly humbled by your comment and kind words. My sincere gratitude towards all. Thank you

Repstock Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 It's mostly JoHan, anyway. 1973 Gran Torino Sport. 6
Robberbaron Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 (edited) Lots of Johans, but this is probably my most presentable one. This is right around the time I was stepping up my build efforts/attention to detail, and I was happy enough with the results that I bought a Johan display case to keep the dust off it. Think this one is about 35 years old. Edited November 4, 2023 by Robberbaron 3

mangodart Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 The Buick wagon in the 2 last pictures is an AMT, only the Oldsmobile is an MPC;) Second round 8

Rob Hall Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 These are a few I built as a teenager in the 80s, mixed in with some AMT kits I built them. Held up pretty well. 2

I have another dozen or so Jo-Hans I built in the 80s, and maybe 50 or so I’ve collected over the last 25 years.
avidinha Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Here are a few of mine. I like Cadillacs, in case you couldn't tell. 5
Leica007 Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 The only two Johan kits I've built are both models of 1:1 that I owned way back. The American was my first car and the Dodge was mine in 68. Both were the plain sedans (not hardtops) so I had to add the c pillars and remove some of the trim. Upgraded the engines in both to what I would have liked to put in them. 5

JS23U Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I've got a bunch of Johans, but this one is the only recently built (and presentable) one. 8
1959scudetto Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Here are some of my JoHans, built in the mid 80's, they are all long gone... 7
Silvercreeker Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I was lucky to buy many back in the early 80’s and stash them for retirement. Here is one of my builds, 74 AMX SCCA race car 4
Chris in Berwyn Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I only have 2, both nitro-burners. Strangely I don't have a pic of the Mustang FC, and it is in storage so I can't take a pic. Here is the Pinto, which underwent an engine transplant. I did have a Jo-han kit as a boy, maybe a Javelin, but it is long-gone, altho I believe its redline tires are in my supply of tires that I still have. 2
Kah puts Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Dan those are knockouts, I dig the license plate ?
