Bills72sj Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 I have gotten another procrastinated project off the bench. This one took 3 paint jobs to get it acceptable. The chassis and interior were built in advance for another project that changed directions. Overall this is a very nice kit and goes together well. The kit stripes were too lame so I endeavored to paint them which caused me problems to overcome. The only non-stock items are the tires on the kit wheels. I had to perform some "fineness" to tuck the fronts inboard. Comments welcome. Here is the WIP thread: 8
Keef Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Excellent work my friend!! The interior looks incredible! I have one of these in the stash to build at some point.
espo Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Great looking build. Lots of detail painting on the engine and chassis.
michelle Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 very nice work were did you find those contemporary clothed figures in the first few pics i could use sets of those for making figures to put around models most of the ones i can find are a bit more vintage style casual clothed figures or more black tie / formal clothed figures
karbuildr Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) Very well done Shelby. Beautiful high gloss shine, excellent details. Funny how all those AMT Mustangs from that time period have the same issue with the front wheels/tires too far outboard. You did a very good job tucking them into the wheel wells. I really like your diorama setting. Edited November 19, 2023 by karbuildr

They are from American Diorama. I liked them because they are prepainted. The hardest part was sorting though hundreds of figures to find ones dressed like contemporary normal people. 1 hour ago, karbuildr said: Very well done Shelby. When trial fitting the front wheels they stuck out too far without the wheel backs being on. I drilled and shaved down some parts box hubs to make them flush with the tip of the spindle. The thin flange was glued directly to backs of them mags after installing basic rings as the inner rim. 1 hour ago, Gustavo Reis said: Nice model, beautiful paint job. Thank you, Gustavo. ?
XYHARRY Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Cool Shelby, that colour looks great. Well done Bill. Cheers, David. ??
Zippi Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Killer looking 67 Shelby GT. Love the blue and that interior looks nice. Great looking Dioramas. Where did you get the figures from?
ncbuckeye67 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 That is the best I've ever seen that kit look ! Wow! An amazing job on such a lousy kit.
happy grumpy Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 All that hard work paid off. Great color choice. That interior looks awesome. Great work.
AMT68 Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Great looking stripes and shine. The tan interior works also works well with the exterior color.

I was on eBay for 3.5 hours looking at them all to find the few that were generic enough for my crew. 17 hours ago, ncbuckeye67 said: That is the best I've ever seen that kit look ! Wow! Nothing put up a fight except the paint job. 16 hours ago, drodg said: Fantastic job. Thank you, David. ? 12 hours ago, happy grumpy said: All that hard work paid off. Great color choice. But, it works with blue too. 2 hours ago, ea0863 said: Total beauty Bill, and great photos! Thank you, EMRE. ?
