slusher Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Guys I have had 2 sittings working my Cannonball run entry and I have actually been afraid. I have always had trouble with my right arm and had but since I broke it and heal from falls it’s almost impossible too help build. I have almost have the engine together and the mold lines are gone on the bucket seats. I hope to be primering tomorrow sometime. I’m using spring loaded parts holders I would be in trouble. I need something better for engines. I don’t know how long I have to build ..
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Real sorry to hear that, Carl. Hoping it gets better for you. 1
JollySipper Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 That's sad to read, Carl my friend! I've said in the past, if there's anything I can do to help with your building, painting bodies for you, foil work, anything....... I was just thinking..... maybe a lump of Silly Putty or Play Doh might would hold your engine so you could assemble it! 1
Modelbuilder Mark Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Sorry to hear you are facing these challenges, hang in there. I wish you a full recovery on the arm. 1

stitchdup Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 maybe an old chuck from a drill would work to hold the engines. i expect it would hold the trans allowing you to put the chuck in a vice or something to hold it. if you wrap the trans in tape it should prevent damage 1
David G. Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Carl, I'm sad to learn of the difficulties you're experiencing, I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel. There is one tool that I use from time to time that helps me by holding the work steady so I can paint. I'm not sure how well it would work in your situation. https://www.amazon.com/Weller-Helping-Hands-Magnifier-WLACCHHB-02/dp/B08FQB6XT3/ref=asc_df_B08FQB6XT3/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=692875362841&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17735973252887734017&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029988&hvtargid=pla-2281435179738&mcid=2d78d624c82f391db13115a66fae59d4&hvocijid=17735973252887734017-B08FQB6XT3-&hvexpln=73&gad_source=1&th=1 The tool comes in a variety of configurations and they're not terribly expensive. Maybe you could find one to suit your needs. Be well, David G. 1

atomicholiday Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hey Carl, sorry to hear about your building problems. That’s no fun at all. I can identify with you. With my hand tremors seemingly getting worse by the day, I often wonder how much longer I’ll be able to keep building models. For me, it’s all about how I support both the part and my hands when I’m working. As long as I can rest my hands on something solid, it seems to work ok. I have decided that when the time comes, I’ll try to lower my standards little by little, just to keep being involved in the hobby. I figure by the time I’m forced out, I’ll be back to building glue bombs!?. But I’m ok with that. Moral of the story is, just keep at it as long as you can, and just enjoy the process. Don’t put pressure on yourself to do perfect work. It’s all just for fun.? 2 1
