The Cuda looks particularly nice; is that the same as the Hemi Under Glass, with different wheels/decals?

It will be nice to have the '57 Chev back in the line, lots of good chassis and running gear parts in that kit. Other than that, nothing for me.

The '57 Chevy kit looks to be the second one that AMT offered shortly before the company got sold. The advantage is that it better body and trim proportions than the original AMT '57 Chevy kit. Includes an opening trunk and a highly detailed interior.

It's actually the second kit of the "second" kit. Like a lot of the Mueller Era kits of the 90s there was a Factory Stock Kit and then some sort of mild cusrom/street machine version. Thats what this reissue is, and it's been about 19 years since fhe Street Machine version was last run. The Factory Stock '57 was run last in that "Car Culture" series in 2016.

What parts are non stock in the '57? I won't buy the custom Apache because of the lack of the stock grill, but I would consider it if it's just the wheels. They might get more sales if they included the custom parts as well as the stock parts.

Here are the Instructions for the Bel Aire. Typical of the Mueller Era Custom Kits, it is a Straight Jacket Kit. You get enough parts to Build ONE KIT, ONE WAY!  No Options, No Deviations!

Round2 Has added in Two Kinds of Custom Decals, so you at least have a choice that way.

I Would guess, that the Custom Wheels from the all of the recent "Kustom Kruiser" series will swap between the 4 kits released so far. All were tooled about the same time, although the '70 Monte Carlo is more Low Rider than Kustom.

They are:

1. '57 Chrysler 300 Hemi Custom.

2. '61 Chevy Apache Pickup

3. '57 Chevy Bel Aire

4. '70 Monte Carlo

I want the '57 Bel Air. Wasn't there a version of this kit once that included photo etched parts? Or maybe I am thinking of another kit.

Yes, the Pro-Shop version...

Sounds like the reissue is going to be the Street Machine version, which has a lot of unique parts distinct from the stock one IIRC...

Agree.  Little known kit variant and lots of cool parts hiding in the box....TB

Exactly right Rob, there is a ton of unique parts to this version including the complete drivetrain, frame, floor pan, firewall, exhaust, tires, wheels and more.  Almost enough to make it a standalone tooling, so there really is no practical way to make it a 2n1.   The Etrl era box art did very little to call out all the cool parts it has.  I hope this latest release changes that.

The 1957 Chevy Street Machine has got to be one of the most overlooked/underrated kits of the "Mueller-era" - probably due to the poor box design and choice of wheels.

It's an absolutely brilliant kit once you swap out those dated Corvette wheels: The Cragar "Street Stars" from the New Tool 1957 Corvette Street Machine are easy to fit and look great on it.

It would have been nice if they included the photo etch from the stock version, though...

Have to agree, the wheels on the box-art turned me off too. Only looked skin deep so didn't know about all the neat stuff underneath.

Will look out for this release..

Who would like to see this [ 1960 Ford ] reissued shortly as another series member?

IIRC, that kit was reissued within the last year or two.

I think the most recent issue was a 2-in-1 version, with both the stock and custom parts.

All the kit really needed were the stock, full wheel covers. The bottle cap thing is fine, but it has been done, and very few ever look factory when complete. Invariably, the caps protrude well beyond the rim, ruining the effect.
