4:23 PM EDT, Fri., Aug. 9, 2024.  Site froze after trying to respond to Bill Geary's comment in the "operating convertible top" thread, got a message saying "there was a problem responding yada yada", but it was still frozen, couldn't get away from the page in either direction.

Had to log out and back in to get here.

Sat. 8-11-24, 9:46 AM EDT     Hanging when changing topics, looking at notifications, etc.

EDIT: And now at 9:53 it seems to have pretty much cleared up.

I am having hang-up issues as well. Pages occasionally taking a long time to load. Pictures taking a long time to load, and some not loading at all. And twice today, while commenting on a post, I was kicked back to the forum-section page half way through writing the comment. Weird.

Interesting. I think I can explain your case. I was downloading a backup set from the server at the time you posted this. I've seen high network traffic slow things down, and will be more careful about when I retrieve those backup sets.

Certainly, is a major improvement and is working with no problems here in Ontario Canada.  Thank you for your time and effort.

Cheers Dave. Everything is super speedy today.

It appears that the problem is returning.  Last few days the site is mostly fast, but from time to time (more often since yesterday) my browser hangs at various places with "waiting for "https://www.modelcarsmag.com" message for fairly long time. No problems accessing other websites.

Yup.

However, from what I'm seeing elsewhere on the web, I'm beginning to wonder if the Chinese intrusion Dave mentioned earlier isn't affecting a lot of sites.

There are intermittent and maddening performance issues recently on several of the sites I frequent, including a few other forums, suppliers, bill-pay portals, etc. Not EVERYWHERE, but enough to make one wonder...

I have multiple computers, have checked things like the oft-blamed "cache", browser versions, firewall settings, etc., and am pretty sure none of the slowdowns are on my end.

I've been getting slow responses for the past two days. It is usually - as others have pointed out - when switching between forums, but not always.

PS - pic heavy threads are taking much longer to load.

I'm still seeing some intermittent slowing. It seems to be from something resembling a denial of service attack. The offending request is originating within our hosting company, and we've opened a ticket.

Man, I'm having Login & Page loading issues galore right now. I've Timeout prompts, just trying to go back a page. The Web-Bots are active right now....

It's better.... The page loads as it should more often than not.

But sometimes I can go to the kitchen and grab a cup of coffee while I wait for the page to load.

Ditto. Performance has been spotty for the past 48 hours. It seems especially slow when jumping between forums. Then it works fine for a bit.

Yes, I just started browsing the forum and we are back to the extreme sluggishness from when the forum was being used to train some AI instance.  It is not really usable.

Yup...this has been my experience as well.

Over the past few days I have noticed the forum works fine when I first login to it. However, as I progress down the page it begins to get slower and slower response. Eventually I will leave just to get it to stop a search. Don't know if this helps or not.

Seems to be a hit and miss issue. A few hours ago it would take forever, if ever to load a page and now fast as ever. Been like this for a feew days.
