Still got my old '86 Sportster. Regret selling my '82 IT 175. loved that bike. I had a number of minibikes and Sutch early on. Had a Rupp I really liked.

Of course any adults in my family didn't want us to have anything to do with them and with my crappy sense of balance I was lucky to survive the bicycle phase so I was more than happy to move onto the 4 wheel phase. I just didn't think it would be wise for me to get on any 2 wheeled conveyance with a motor on it. If I want bugs in my teeth I'll get a Model A speedster or something. Never been on a motorcycle and never intend to get on one at this age. I know millions of people enjoy them and more power to y'all but just not for me.

Used to ride. My EX 500 Kawasaki is the only complete bike I have right now, and it was actually purchased for parts to build something else.

I've been collecting parts to build a '70s style slightly modified Sportster   image.jpeg.1034f47a8710ee464390d250c9d416db.jpeg

and other bits to turn what will be leftovers from the Kaw into something more like this.

EDIT: Even started building the Sportster in 1/8 scale to make sure I really liked the proportions prior to buying any real parts...

I've got a 2007 Honda Goldwing Premium Audio (the base model) bought new. This is an older picture. The bike shows a bit of wear at this point - it now has about 115,000 miles on it. What a bike.

Haven't ridden since the labor day weekend 1980 at the request of my wife.

On a New Harley when I met this nice old lady in a 68 Rambler Ambassador.

Spent 4 days in the hospital not knowing if I was going to ever get out of bed again. Had little to no feeling in my arms and none lower as a result of cord shock.

Everything came back fine after that.

The bike was totalled, and my insurance agent said he never got my message and so it wasn't covered. She had no insurance.

Enjoyed lots of off-road riding in the 70's with a trials bike and motocross with an Elsinore 250. Bought a Honda Nighthawk 650 in the 80's and the wife and I spent many nice days riding in the country and mountains. Ended up riding it to work quite a bit but figured my luck would run out one day and some idiot driver would run into me (after a couple of close calls) so I got rid of it and haven't ridden since.

That's one thing I miss. I had a Kawasaki Concours for a couple of years. You'd hit the gas, and about 6000 rpm the power would kick in to the redline (11000 rpm). With the Goldwing, when you crank on the throttle, it would hit 6000 rpm or so and start choking. The redline on the Wing is about 6000 rpm. It still moves pretty good, but doesn't have the kick in the butt the Concours did.

Been riding this when time avails for 23 years, 1999 Honda VT1100C3 Aero. I designed and painted the aftermarket hard bags and had a body shop clear coat them. '59 Caddy taillight lenses fit the turn signals like butta' so they had to go on.

Here's mine. It's what's left of kz440 after a few "idea's" when you're a bored welder l/fabricator. I also have a 73 ironhead,  inherited from my late father-in-law. Between the old lady and I, we have a fleet of 5 bikes.

This is my Nighthawk 450.  I got this bike brand new in ‘85, and it was my first means of transportation.  Still have it to this day, and will until the day I die.

That's a pretty bike! I like the angular bodywork, and the color suits it........

I had an early 1980s Yamaha 650 special for a while in my late teens. It was black with gold trim....... I like to go fast too much, and quickly learned a bike maybe wasn't for me!

Thanks man!

In the late 80’s I looked at trading for a Yamaha.  They build some great bikes.  If I remember correctly I was looking at a Phaser 750?  Insurance killed the deal for me.

I used to ride, but haven't for some years.

Problem is that I have no interest in just tooling around the the countryside close to home for an afternoon, or hopping from bar to bar on a Saturday as many of my colleagues used to do.

Never have had much desire for that.

My idea of "riding" was taking a week or two and actually hitting the road, often times traveling through as many as 7 or 8 states and covering several thousand miles on a ten or twelve day trip.

Got to see a lot of the country that way.

Unfortunately, age has begun creeping up on me and my body protests considerably when I punish it that much, so I've traded my open air travel experience from a motorcycle to a much more comfortable roadster.

In any case, my 1996 Yamaha Royal Star used to serve me quite well in my travels when my back didn't dictate my actions quite so much.

It still sits in my garage just in case I ever decide to relive my youth, but it has sat for a number of years, so if it ever sees the road again, it's going to require some "going through".

Haven't checked in some time as the battery is dead and it has a digital odometer, but I believe I put around 70,000 miles on it since I bought it new in '97.

I don't think it's been ridden since around 2012.
