Still pondering my entry for this one, all three of my completed CBR entries have been Japanese and I'd like to use this as an excuse to build something American this time around.

As a base vehicle I'm favouring the AMT '70 Ford sedan, but wondering about a suitably hi-po period engine option. It'd have to be from the Ford stable as I don't like mixing makes, and presumably a big block? I have only a limited choice in my stash, the '69 Cougar CJ428 comes to mind, maybe with a different intake/filter set-up?

While I'm off work for the next few days I'll have a play then declare my entry. Could end up being something entirely different.....

The included engine might work, you could do it up as if it had been pulled out of a retired NASCAR racer. The Revell Cobra has a pretty decent 427, and I think the recently reissued AMT Torino has some sort of NASCAR style big block.

Thank you Brian, so it has a decent basic engine already included? That makes life easier!

It has the added bonus for me of being a birth year build, picking up on a previous CBR theme which I never managed to complete (or really start).

Not yet decided, will see what else takes my fancy over the next few days.....

No problem. Yeah, the engine in the kit isn't great but is definitely a Cannonball style mod.

Ok.  Finally decided on a kit.  Went with the option of detailing a kit rather than doing a lot of mods in hopes of actually finishing this one.

I'll be going with the 1964 Corvette Grand sport this go round.

Count me in! As the theme is the 50 anniversary of the  1975 Cannonball, I’ve decided to build a replica of the 71 Porsche T entered by Bill “Captain Marvel” Warner and co-driver Tom Nehl. I participated in the Sebring 60th Anniversary build with my MGB build and thoroughly enjoyed researching the vehicle so as to accomplish a replica build.  The plan is to follow a similar method and to focus on the detail rather than scratch building, which always takes me down a rabbit hole. I’ll be using an EM Fujimi kit of the early Porsche which offers great accuracy and detail.

While I’m in Arizona for the winter I’ll be gathering reference sources of the Warner/Nehl entry and upon my return to my Vancouver Island workbench the build will commence!

Cheers Misha

I'm going th throw my hat into the ring. I would like to do a Johan.1971 maverick. Will be digging out the kit and other parts in the next day or so and do some pictures.

My first car was a full orange Maverick Grabber.  By full orange, I mean the exterior (except for the white grabber stripe and logo) and the entire interior...all orange.

In case you were stuck for a paint scheme...one color does it all.

I'll jump in here with a '70 Ford Torino, either a GT as a replica of my 1:1, or a Cobra which I have in my stash already, not started.  I'll follow up with a picture when I decide on the kit.

Wow what an entry list already!! I have added in every one that have said that you want to join in. Even though some of you need to post a picture of the kit to be legit ;)

Soon the clock starts! 5 hours to go for me!

Well a couple hours cutting and the damaged windshield and melted roof are gone. Going to work on getting the 71 charger chassis lined up and glue the roof in tomorrow. I've never done a white car before, so I'm thinking white car red interior,  satin red hood, fender tops, bumblebee stripe ,and steel rims. 20250101_022412.jpg.79da5b371345863fe84d2098eb938061.jpg20250101_022417.thumb.jpg.6e3cd7dd2d020a0e9de14ff75be0926f.jpg

I'm going to be starting with some parts and the body from my previous escort entry. my previous entry was about halfway along but i'll be changing to a rally car chassis as the current one is set up for a cossie and i can use it under something else. some of the parts getting swapped over to the rally car.

Hi Anton,

count me in.

Will try to do something completely different for this year... Heller Renault Estafette. Will do the 1964's version and try to replicate the box art as good as possible.

For me too I will try to detail it a bit more.

Here's the picture of the kit.

Happy modeling to everyone and a healthy new year.

At the moment i'm using the zakspeed engine but will be printing some parts or might even swap to a v6 or crossflow 4 pot as its very tunable and it'll be fun to wave at you in the gas stops as i fly on by with half a tank left. the first time i was building this i used a cossie turbo but i have something else for it so it wont be wasted. So today after laying out parts and looking at hundreds of pics of zakspeed fords i decided to use some influences from the later capris and set the engine back by 2 pots so 90% is now behind the axle and i now need to build a new engine bay which may or may not be a tube chassis. so far i cut away the firewall and upper rear of the engine bay then moved the entire part back. this brought the engine to the firewall but i might move it back a little more still so its not glued in place yet. i've included a pic with a stock chassis too. i started making a zakspeed cam cover too but might not use it as i cant get the lettering rightDSC02317.thumb.JPG.7939e6e11af42342438cff2f96829b5b.JPGDSC02318.thumb.JPG.291ed9835fb747acd57d91556c017d5d.JPGDSC02319.thumb.JPG.394344c8df89a3db0cab3a86bc1540bc.JPGDSC02320.thumb.JPG.c18e879687a510e1ec57548e1cc7e411.JPG

This morning I went shopping in my spare parts for some bits to get me closer to the box-art version of the Camaro.  I have three early versions of this kit in my junkyard pile, along with many other parts from the same kit.

What I was looking for was the dual carb intake manifold and headers from the orange car boxing.  I’m not crazy about that turbo setup from the kit I’m using.  Found those parts, along with the correct wheels.

I may or may not use the wheels.  I have some slots that I printed which would also look cool.  I might also swap the tires for something printed, but the basic look will be in the same style.  Just better looking than the kit tires.  We’ll see later.

Time to get busy!

Super stoked to see so many contestants and also som sweet progress all ready!

Regarding my Laguna I have decided to box it since I get stuck in the same places in my planing on it.

So I will be building a ‘71 Plymouth ‘Cuda with a ‘426 Hemi. It’s a started kit with some body mods. I also intend to replace the tiny cuda rear axle with a PB find which is from a ‘70 Challenger.
