I have been looking at all the beautiful builds that were completed this year. My question is roughly how many did you purchase?? Please post an answer if your other half doesn't read this collum. I personally purchased over 100 kits to keep and also got 2 airplane collections that totaled over a 1000 kits. Now I built 8 and thought that was a good year.

I finished 15 models this year and I purchased 0. I felt like my stash was getting too big and set myself a goal of not buying any new kits this year.

I purchased just 3 kits in 2024 and have just 26 left in my stash (mostly cars but a couple WWII planes). I typically build 4 to 6 per year so I have about a 5 year backlog.

Yeah, until you see a new release that you have the hot fantods for

i think i built 8, another 8 unfinished and possibly purchased the same, but i printed a lot of stuff which is money i would have spent on kits. I have bought a lot more supplies like paint and glues than i normally do

I only have 3 days left, I think I'll make it.

Built 6, sold 1, and bought 7...so I guess it was a wash this year.  I always try to build more than I buy to put a dent in the stash, but it doesn't always work out that way year to year...

Hi!

Finished eleven this year, out of a stash of about 110. Purchased just 4 kits this year: getting more selective, I guess... My wife won't complain!

Oh...so that's the secret!

My answer is a bit skewed, as I bought a couple hundred vintage kits and built-ups from the estate of a friend who passed away this past spring. Otherwise the answer would be fewer than ten kits...

I bought quite a few this year, but I was surprised when closing up my parent's house was 11 big boxes of unassembled kits I bought over the years. Way more than I'll ever build. I thought they were thrown away long ago, but my dad put them away for me and forgot about them. I need to go through and thin them out. What's fun is finding kit's with clearance sale tags from places like Kay Bee Toys and Toy-R-Us.

I built 13 kits this year, plus I took apart one from 2020 to re-paint it a different color that I should have finished up in a day or two. I think I bought 10 kits this year, which is kind of a lot for me.

Eek. Acquired 6 cheap buildups off eBay, 3 as major parts donors, 3 as restore/rebuilders, finished zero of anything.  I've got to get my act together one of these days ....

So I'm working today at school-yes, everybody is on break, except me. The boiler guy has to be here you know. Anyway, I keep a stash of models here that I bought this past year and went to go count-There are 60. I know I built 10 kits this year, but those are home kits. My problem this year is I found I guy that makes the rounds at car shows selling full kits, but pretty cheap (15-25 bucks). The kits are basically an opened box-all there and in, non taken apart status, or damaged box, etc. This guy has thousands of kits-I've been to his pole barn. Not included in this count are some bodies from Too Many projects, kits from A&N (pricey, but fun). I seem to buy more as I get closer to retirement. Plus this 3D printing thing is eating up a lot of my money too. Maybe that should be the question-How much "accessorizing" have you bought too? Producers like Fireball Modelworks, VCG Resin, Iceman, Texas 3D, and Andy Lesiak, to name a few are starting to take all my money just to change the already good kits from Moebiu and such. Oh the days of being able to only raid from other kits is long gone!

Built 21 this year and bought maybe 5.  Still trying to make a dent in the 250+ kits in the stash.   21 is a good year for me considering I lost 4 months early in the year due to a move and setting up my new work area.  Did 2 WIP's here on the forum and one of them took over a month and a half. Overall I am pleased with my rate of completion. Will finish one more on New Years Day.  Always do.
