Falcon Ranchero Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 When I started getting into cars I found the best way to gain knowledge of them was by watching their respective advertisements and so here are some of my favourites; you can add your favs also 1960 Plymouth Commercial - Shake Rattle & Roll 1961 Plymouth Fury Commercial - 2 minutes - Solid Beauty - Body Construction 1964 Plymouth Fury, Belvedere & Savoy Commercial - YouTube
Falcon Ranchero Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 This one's actually really good too
Kromolly Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 If you were in the Seattle area in the late '60s to late '70s, it would be hard not to remember this guy and his whacky commercials. Unfortunately I could only fine one clip, but his commercials were memorable and successful. 1
John M. Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 The Joe Isuzu commercials from the 1980s. 2 1
Falcon Ranchero Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 The Humbler GTO one is legendary 1970 Pontiac GTO Humbler - Commercial - LONG VERSION!!!!!
John M. Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) In my final year in the Navy in Washington State back in 1988, I saw this commercial of Cal Worthington on TV who operated a Ford dealer on Federal Way in Seattle. From what I was told then, he was successful in Southern California for years with similar commercials. Would any West Coast members of the forum remember him? Edited December 31, 2024 by John M. 1

Oh yeah, Cal Worthington is very memorable. Once the jingle gets into your head it never goes away. He came along after the Dick Balch era in my earlier post. 2

stavanzer Posted January 1 Posted January 1 The Suburban Auto Group Commercials for the Trunk Monkey were my favorites. Here's the complete collection. The First one: And Then there are the ones with the Badger Salesman:
ChrisBcritter Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Right for this time of year, has cool old Mopars, but most importantly, it's got a good beat and you can dance to it! 1

That's a cool commercial; and if you really want to dance, the Plymouth ads, 1960, 1961, and '64 Valiant are pretty groovy. They're at the very top of the topic if you're interested. 1
iamsuperdan Posted January 2 Posted January 2 This one stands out for me. Was working for VW at the time detailing cars and paying for university, and the Mk3 Golfs and Jettas were a big reinvigoration for the brand. The little skeleton thing the guy is playing with. VW sold those in the parts department. I have a few still. They glow in the dark. 2
stitchdup Posted January 2 Posted January 2 either this one that was done live (i actually set a reminder for this one as being live meant it wasn't going to be shown again or another from honda 3 1

I remember this!"
TonyK Posted January 2 Posted January 2 There used to be a car dealer named Friendly Chevrolet and they'd do late night tv commercials selling used cars with a guy who was not very good. He'd have a few cars in the showroom and walk over to the drivers side and you could tell he was reading the cars features from something on the seat. He'd point out it had a radio and heater, etc. This was in the early 70's. He'd like to say "come on down and kick a tire or two" and "our prices are lower than a belly of a bullfrog". Very amateur local stuff. Good laughs though.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I'm pretty sure it was Renault that did a print ad in mags like Car & Driver in the late '60s or early '70s extolling the superior manly virtues of their fully reclining seats over high-horsepower performance. Also pretty sure it only ran once. I'll say no more.
