Wow. I thought it looked good in the final pictures of your WIP thread. It looks even better here. Great model and photography too.

Thanks Sonny. Took advantage of some sunny weather. I actually want to get some in filtered sun too. I’ll do that eventually.

Awesome model. Looks incredible. Very well engineered and constructed. It makes me fantasize as to what it would be like to drive around a race or slalom course. Looking forward to seeing what's next on your bench.

Hi Phil. Yes, this would be really fun on a slalom course! Should have the next build thread up tomorrow. Heading over to the truck section…

Enjoyed following your build and the way you made everything come together. The chassis and engine setup along with the body and suspension all look very accurate to a real machine. Beautiful paint color and finish. Like the interior details.

Thanks David. It is something a bit different, and was an enjoyable build. I appreciate you following the WIP. I didn’t change TOO much of the chassis, so theoretically at least, it should be somewhat representative of a real machine.

Nope, sorry - I'm in NY. Closest show for me is the NNL East in April!

Hmmmm. I have you crossed up with someone… Well, you definitely will not see at NNL east, at least not this year.😉

Ain’t my cup of tea Steve…but I gotta say the work you’ve done on this is awesome!👍 I can certainly appreciate the engineering involved.😎

Hi Greg, I appreciate the honest reply. I knew when I started that it would not be a build that would have “universal” appeal.  Thanks for checking in, and taking the time to comment.

Pretty wild there, Steve.

I had doubts when you started but you brought it all together in fine form. Pretty cool. 👍

Hi Steve. Thanks for being patient and checking it out in completed form. Learned a bit here that should make the next one a pinch better.😉

Just a Great looking build Steve.  Love the color and all the detail work man.  Nicely done.

Hi Bob. I wanted a colour with some “pop”, metallic orange seemed about right. Thanks for having a look sir.  I could see you building something like this. Cab of a ‘50 Ford truck, big “Iceman” motor out back….

That came out really nice!  Love the concept, so many lousy kits can be saved doing this.   The only critique I have is the coilovers, you did such a fab job but those bug me, and I know you can fix it. 😊

So cool. It's been really fun watching the WIP thread. I love seeing such an out-there idea become such a well-realized build. Tons of interesting details on this one!! Definitely saving these photos to my inspiration folder 😁

Hi Kurt! Haven’t seen you on the board for a bit, good to hear from you. Thank you for the honest critique. Yes! I can fix that. This was my first go at this type of project, I wanted to keep it somewhat simple. I have several things I will try to improve on the next one. Certainly a bit more detail on the engine, and suspension. Thanks for checking in.

Thanks Chris, for me, the biggest compliment someone can give here, is saying it gave them inspiration. Thanks for sharing that, and I look forward to seeing what you create. There are so many options for this type of build. As Kurt mentioned above, you can save some “less than perfect” kits doing this.

Thank you!  Just in a slump, not the first time.  It's just a pet peeve of mine, how the mold always has that offset ridge diagonal to the coil spring, and cleaning it up is such a pain, that it loses the fun, and that's why I have Shelf Of Doom projects going for years.  Oh yea, me hand painting them, like eyes on figures. 👀

Thank you David! I’m chomping at the bit to do another one, but a few other projects to do first.

Thanks Alex. I like that, “non conforming”… well said. It was a fun one. I think it is probably a build that you either quite like, or definitely DON’T like.

Well… it’s good to see you back Kurt. I have several screen shots from your innovative builds saved in my inspiration folder. In fact, the pivoting hood prop on this build, is a variation of one you shared on a build. Possibly the Subaru cannonball car? I’ve done a few of those now, including on my recent 71 Olds, which had a magnet to hold it in place. So thanks for that!!

Kurt's evil that way. I blamed him in the last bit of the post immediately above this one within my Red Baron '29 A WIP for the unavoidable temptation to turn the Revell single piece coilovers into 6-piece units.

Hi Steve!

My friend, you must be put on strong medication, ASAP.

I'm concerned: a nightmarish cross between what looks like a Daytona, a Fiero, and a race car?

Seriously, truly unique, and it pushes the boundaries of modeling imagination. Bravo!

Russell, I feel like you and Kurt would be trouble together… good trouble, but trouble nonetheless. I have several screenshots saved from both of you with some great tips. Nice to have you both comment here. Oh… ya, I just had a look, and added your coil overs to my hobby tips file, thank you!

Claude! I think I might have your infliction, kit bashing-itis. It was actually a fairly easy bash, just a few small hiccups. Daytona yes, Mercedes/Sauber C9 endurance racer, and I suppose there is some Fiero-ness to it, although no actual Fiero parts. Next version will be better.  Thanks for taking the time to comment, always a treat to hear from you sir. Have you made plans to come to Victoria for Duece Days in July? Us local model guys would be delighted if you came. Great 1;1 show and a pretty good scale show as well.

Hi steve!

Be warned: this affliction is almost impossible to cure, I'm afraid...

What I meant by the reference to GM's Fiero was that the B-pillar on your creature reminds me of my own 1/1 Fiero SM4 back in the 80's. Before they came with the fastback V6 GT. Nostalgia...
