Eric from Moebius is really good about posting new kit announcements here. Until we get an official announcement from him with box art, I wouldn’t put much stock in anyone else’s projections. 2
mikemodeler Posted January 14 Posted January 14 This is supposedly in the works, but they have multiple other kits to bring to market before them embark on this series of kits.
Mark C. Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Their site says: “This is a placeholder for an upcoming release. Pricing is at zero to allow for email alert signup.” Not sure why that would be there if there wasn’t some word that it was coming this year, but usually Model Roundup is fairly reliable and I haven’t seen anything there yet. 1
kelson Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I looked at it as well and it does state in the description due late 2025,maybe they're just gauging interest in the kit?.
Can-Con Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Moebius had that sign on their table at a show last year so I'd say they do intend to produce the kit, just a matter of when. 1
1972coronet Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I'd heard that the kit's due out as soon as their press release editor returns from his sabbatical .
TonyK Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Make it a '68 with a long bed and I'll buy one in a second. 1

It's a couple of pictures of the placard Moebius had on their table at the Hobby Expo in Vegas in late 2023. Obviously they didn't quite hit that 2024 date. Somewhere on here in the Car section Dave addressed the development of their future projects and as I recall this was still in the design stages with other stuff coming before it. Sunward are some strange cats in general based on their YouTube channel content. I suppose it's meant to be humorous, but it just comes off as weird.
Ragtop Man Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Moby runs in a pretty linear fashion - they get one done and then move on to the next. I think I speak for the other kids in the corner of the lunchroom talking about models when I say they are invariably worth the wait! 4

LOBBS Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I can't wait for all the possible variations of this tooling. I'm sure we'll see a 4x4 at some point. A long bed as well. And of course the model year updates to do a '68 (easiest from a '67) to the '69-70 and '71-72 versions. Personally looking most forward to being able to build a '69 short bed 4x4.
stavanzer Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I'd like to build my Dad's White over Copper, '69 Longbed 3/4 ton 2 Wheel Drive truck.
gui_tarzan Posted Monday at 12:13 PM Posted Monday at 12:13 PM It needs the small back window. My '67 had that and a 327/3spd manual. I wish I had a picture of it.

Me, too, as I have a real '68 in my garage! Unrestored, from Washington state, waiting for an ambition increase and an automatic trans crossmember.
Can-Con Posted Monday at 06:57 PM Posted Monday at 06:57 PM The pic Moebius originally used was from an on-line sale ad of a customized truck. Am I correct in thinking that the big window was also available in '67 along with the small window? Anyway, I'm thinking that when this does hit the shelves it will be a '68. Makes more sense to do a '68 cab with the big rear window and side marker lights then the small window, no markers '67. Then the cab can easily be used for every other year up to '72.

Honestly they could make the "small back window" an insert for the cab if they want to make a '67. Side markers could just be decals so that wouldn't matter.

The markers are actually inset into the openings so for a lot of us decals would not be ,, lets say "ideal". and it's a lot easier to fill in the openings then it would be to cut them out. This is how it's done with 1/1 replacement fenders. They don't make '67 specific fenders without the openings. But we'll see when it out.
Robberbaron Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM Posted yesterday at 02:56 AM I'm no expert on these trucks, but I seem to recall hearing that the 67-68 fenders are contoured slightly differently compared to the 69-72. Sure isn't obvious to a casual observer. Even if that is true, I suspect you could cheat it in 1/25 scale and not hear TOO many complaints. Regarding the '67 small window, seems like it would be more practical to just mold the cabs with the big back windows. However, Erik Solie has dropped at least one bread crumb that a '67 small window could be in the works: Maybe they can do it with just a tooling insert, like the 65 Comet body sides without the front fender trim? 1
89AKurt Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Since this is my '68 Long Bed, and built the previous '69 Green Barge owned before, from the lousy promo chassis AMT kit, I have some opinions too. The tailgate and taillights are totally wrong on the old AMT kit, if the new kit is not accurate it ought to bomb. Nothing else matters to me. If I was to invest in producing 3D printed parts to make that ancient kit look good, THEN Moebius would release it. Everyone wants this and that option, okay, so they produce another tree of parts, and y'all will whine about the high cost of new models. Off the top of my head, the options: Seat: bench or bucket. Shifter: column or floor. Pedals must match. Door card: steel or deluxe. Better have separate chrome cranks and levers. Outside door handle separate too! Tailgate: stamped painted, or aluminum deluxe. Deluxe has extra trim. Side trim: body with zero trim, make you add the level you want, more parts. Grill: Each year has differences. Back bumper: Many choices, who will make 3D for a ranch truck bumper? Back window: Only the '67 was small, so have an infill part to putty in. Mine has the aftermarket slider, there is another 3D part. 1967 had no sidelights at all. Deluxe trim is different than stock '68-72. Short Bed vs. Long Bed. Flamewar material. A/C or not. Engine: always the first thing to change. Big difference in trim details. Gauge clusters have fake dials. Mirrors: Sport or RV Then let's have the GMC versions. This is a real survivor, bought and basically parked, never needed restoration. The picture used by Moebious is a real truck, with custom (not factory) details. Seats are newer. Not factory wheels. Has the window thingies. No letters across the hood, should be photo-etch or go home. No radio antenna. My Long Bed is going to be worth a fortune in another decade, because they're getting whacked for fake SB.

Yes, the '69-72 fenders are slightly different to the '67-68. The hoods much more so. Still hoping that isn't a deterrent to doing the full range of 67-72 Chevys as this has been on my new, modern tooling wishlist for decades. 1
Zoom Zoom Posted yesterday at 01:51 PM Posted yesterday at 01:51 PM A year ago it was estimated these kits would be out around now. Nowhere in sight. I'm okay with that, let Moebius get 'em right. Not like my stash is going to evaporate any time soon... 4
