Mike 1017 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Eleanor Mustang Not a Copyrightable Character, Court Affirms 1
Bainford Posted June 11 Posted June 11 (edited) The article is primarily about the fake Eleanor '67 Mustang, though perhaps the principle applies to real Eleanor as well. Denise Halicki (copyright claimant) is mentioned, though real Eleanor isn't. Annoyingly, by virtue of the article, the uninitiated might believe that the '67 Mustang thing is Eleanor, but that is the typical incompetence of online articles. Revell can make all the '67 Eleanor kits it wants, but I won't take my place in line until they produce an original Eleanor which, fortunately, is entirely plausible. If the info in the article applies, I think it is even likely. Edited June 12 by Bainford 2
Mothersworry Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Tooling is already done, Eleanor is on the way...pics of Revell test shots. 5

I wonder if the kit is going to be named Eleanor. Maybe a Custom Mustang. The court ruling came out June 5th according to the video. Did Revell get an early heads up because it does take time to make a prototype?

oldcarfan Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I was thinking of the Nicholas Cage version, but I'd take either! 1

Dave Van Posted June 16 Posted June 16 R2 had a '70s Elanor license at one time, they did a 1/18 die cast. I asked if they'd do a 1/25 kit but was told no tooling $$$ for hood, wheels grille.
The Junkman Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I'm going against the stream here but I am (the) one who can't see the appeal of Eleanor Mustangs. Old or new versions its an overdone clown car that leaves me cold. I'd sooner have R2 spend their money on a new mold Cobras of various versions, an early '70s Plymouth Road Runner, classic race cars like the various Chaparral's/Lola T-70's, or classic Ferraris (275GTB/365GTB/or a 250 SWB). Yes, I know I'm out in the hinterlands but its MY hinterlands. 2 1

deuces wild Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Not for me thanks...🙄 After watching the movie a few times, I've decided against building a replica of that car.. Not my cup of tea I guess...
vamach1 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I saw this 66 Mustang at a car show recently and honestly prefer it over using the 67 as the base.
1972coronet Posted June 18 Posted June 18 (edited) Just to be clear - we are discussing the original Eleanor (1971/1973 model) , no ? I've only watched a few vignettes of that c.1999 "remake", and was duly unimpressed. For me, it's the 1974 original ONLY. IIRC, Revell had at least some test shots of the 1973 parts for, ostensibly, a 1973 version , based on their 1971 kit(s). Other 'an a combination of 1971 & 1973 Mustang cosmetics (e.g., the one in the original film), the licence plates would be the only outward variable . Edited June 18 by 1972coronet *TYPO* 2
