Andrew McD Posted Saturday at 01:16 PM Posted Saturday at 01:16 PM My wife bought this kit for me and it has been lingering in the stash for quite some time. I painted the body a deep blue but it now slips my mind as to what kind of paint I used. It's a simple snap tight kit; curbside and no real undercarriage detail. I've done very little bare metal foil work previously so I figured I would make this an exercise in BMF application. The BMF turned out OK, doesn't really stand up to close inspection but looks nice sitting on the shelf. While BMF still seems to be the best option for chrome detail I still dread using it. Perhaps with more practice I won't mind it so much. m 12
BKF Posted Saturday at 02:46 PM Posted Saturday at 02:46 PM Nicely done! Bare metal foil looks really good as well as the paint. I myself need a lot of practice using bmf.
Rattlecan Dan Posted Saturday at 07:22 PM Posted Saturday at 07:22 PM Did a very nice job. Great-looking build.
karbuildr Posted Saturday at 09:24 PM Posted Saturday at 09:24 PM Looks pretty good to me, well done.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted Saturday at 09:44 PM Posted Saturday at 09:44 PM Looks good and I like the color! BMF looks pretty good too, it just takes patience and practice to get more comfortable with it.
espo Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM Posted Sunday at 06:32 PM Great paint finish and the dark blue looks good. Chrome foil can take a while to get comfortable with.
70 Sting Posted Sunday at 06:45 PM Posted Sunday at 06:45 PM That's a beautiful car. Deep blue with the chrome is very eye-catching. BMF looks very good to me... takes some serious voodoo to use that stuff.
Andrew McD Posted Monday at 12:26 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:26 PM Thanks for all the comments, they are much appreciated!
Bainford Posted Monday at 07:01 PM Posted Monday at 07:01 PM Good looking Chevy. I dig the dark blue hue, and the Halibrands set it off nicely. Your foil work looks good, too. Like painting, foiling is a life-long pursuit. 1
drodg Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Nice build. Bare metal does take practice but the nice thing is if you screw up which I often do I can just reapply it.
Doug 1061 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago looks great. These Revell snap kits are nice. If you want to get better at bmf just foil a 50s car. My bmf skills were so so till I built a 59 Ford Skyliner. It was much easier after that.
carrucha Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Nice build. Good work on the paint. I find the applying BMF is easier to do in several short sessions rather than one long session.
STU111 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have a love hate relationship with BMF, I love the look of it, but it hates me when l use it!😂 Seriously though, that is a really nice looking 57, love the stance and the wheels. 👍🏻
