70mach1 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Revell SSP kit. Engine wired and plumbed. Scratch built starter solenoid, wiper motor, hinges also scratch built (to make it more realistic looking). Scratch built servo motors on underside of trunk lid. Added trunk mat with correct plaid pattern, aluminum tail pipe extensions. Refinished in colonial white and wedgewood blue lacquer, DuPont urethane clear coat. 1
Craig Irwin Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Top notch! I'm impressed with the corrected deck hinges, that always looked so wrong to me.
MrObsessive Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Very Nice Andy! That top looks really good with it up! Hard to get those straight without that forward section looking "bent".
62rebel Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 man, that is a clean interpretation. and the detail added to the engine kicks it into overdrive.... superb.
my66s55 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 A very nicely done build. I really enjoy seeing a nice build like this.
Erik Smith Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Beautiful build all the way around. Nice work.
Wayne Buck Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 WOW!!! That came out incredibly, amazingly, outstandingly, ummm.... BEAUTIFUL! I'd LOVE to see this one in person!
peekay Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I wasn't brave enough to even start this kit and sold it. You've managed to neatly solve all the issues and wind up with a beautiful model.
Sixties Sam Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Wow! Excellent build! The best one I've seen of the Skyliner. Fixing those hinges really helps the realism. I built one of the original kits back in the 1960's, and it was a bear to build for a teenager. Seeing yours makes me want to try it again! Sam
surfjunke Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Beautiful build of a very tough kit. Those multi piece bodies can be quite a challenge. Very nice clean work.
Peter Lombardo Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Great job on a rather difficult kit. I love the pastel blue and white. I have one somewhere in the stash molded in that nasty red plastic. One of these days I may get to it. Still, yours looks great.
Guest Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Would someone be willing to email me these pics? All I see are red x's. PM me if you can help.
Travis Waits Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Very intuitive to use masking tape for the insulation under the hood...I assume it's masking tape?
