om617 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Thank you Steven. I bought decals from mikescalespeedshop (I think it has another name now) and those are hands down the best decals i have seen and used so far.
Don Sikora II Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Think that actually might be the AMT Snapfast Plus '96 Corvette Collector Edition kit. I have one someplace and remember it being molded in a very uninspiring shade of gray. It was basically an unassembled promo without any of the paint detailing that was becoming more common as promo production moved to China.
rmvw guy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Think that actually might be the AMT Snapfast Plus '96 Corvette Collector Edition kit. I have one someplace and remember it being molded in a very uninspiring shade of gray. It was basically an unassembled promo without any of the paint detailing that was becoming more common as promo production moved to China. I have one also. Big Lots were selling them really cheap like maybe $4. The gray is uninspiring I agree. Mine is still in the box it came in with a window. I bought way too many Corvettes a few years back. Now they are only worth about $5 on ebay. I had the idea a !:! Corvette owner would pay big $ for a model of his year Corvette some day. Not yet!
Atmobil Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I would suggest purple with red interior and red wheels
jacoballardtattoo Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) Go salvage yard with it, the type of car you can buy at a salvage yard as a running complete but junked ride. Flat red paint poor interior mix matched rims. At the price you paid you can have fun with it and have no loss of it doesn't turn out good. Edited January 22, 2015 by jacoballardtattoo
Jon Haigwood Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I'm thinking black with yellow interior and wheels....or maybe it was yellow with black interior and wheels
philo426 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) Man !funny suggestions but I might just turn it into a slot car(still have to paint it though). Edited January 22, 2015 by philo426
Tom Geiger Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hmmm... the last Corvette model I had I dented it up and rusted the body!
Mr Stock Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) This beauty arrived from the US today an AMT1963 Buick riviera, its in pretty good shape, unpainted, few parts glued on the body so a bit of glue residue to clean up, even the glass isnt glued in ! I do need a pair of stock wheels an air cleaner and a stock grille with headlights if anybody can help, i know Modelhaus does some parts for it. Edited January 22, 2015 by Mr Stock
cobraman Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Ha, those hands and feet decals really take me back. : )
Mr Stock Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Ha, those hands and feet decals really take me back. : ) I know exactly what you mean Ray, I think they put them on every decal sheet in the early 60s ! Lol Here is where Im at with this one now, de-chromed the bumpers, all the glued on bits taken off and the body cleaned cleaned up, Ive painted on dabs of Mr surfacer to see where the damage is that will need fixing.
The70judgeman Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Stopped by Greenfield News & Hobby on my way home from work and picked a few things up. Just some paint and Novus 1 & 2 set. When I got home there were a couple of packages of parts I got off of Ebay. The 340 is from the AMT '71 Duster kit, the Monogram wheels and tires are from the '70 Roadrunner kit. I got those just for the "Cop" wheels and poverty caps. And lastly, another wheel and tire set from the AMT '68 Roadrunner kit...mostly for the red line tires.
philo426 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The chassis is secured to the body with 4 screws.Does that make it a promo or Snaptite?
Don Sikora II Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The chassis is secured to the body with 4 screws.Does that make it a promo or Snaptite? I'm 99% sure it's the Snapfast kit. If you google "AMT 1996 Corvette" and look at the image search you can see what the promo looked like. It came in a black window box, had paint detailing, and a red interior. Same parts as your model, just decorated and assembled at the factory.
disabled modeler Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 yep its a AMT snap fast plus kit Corvette.
High octane Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Nice set up Ben, and cool model too. I had one of those built up before I got out of "cars" for awhile, and I wish I still had it.
Lownslow Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 my 3d prints come out pretty smooth, i plan on using this to make something like a fiberglass shell for subwoofers. enough putty to resculpt a whole kit or 6.
W-409 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 '61 Plymouth Fury Resin Kit arrived in the Mail today. It is cast by a friend of mine and it's very sharp quality all over. All of the details are really crisp, flash was thin and easy to remove etc. Really good looking kit. I will need a '64 Dodge 330 for a chassis donor, for the engine I'll use ModelHaus 413 and it will be a Junior Stock Drag Car. All pics of the parts can be found from My Fotki.
PatW Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) Having waited a few months this came from HLJ in Japan it came today..................... I'll get to it once I've finished the kit my youngest son gave me for Christmas. A bright yellow Ferrari 599 GTO! Edited January 23, 2015 by PatW
martinfan5 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 How much do they run Pat? With the current exchange rates, about $21.73
om617 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 The Comet had a really nice vintage hemi under the hood, maby Revell Parts Pack stuff.
Daddyfink Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 The ol' MPC Chevelle Stock car from a LHS that is trying to bring in model builders. They mainly do R/C. And the Hasegawa 1/48 Macross Valkyrie VF-1S/A Super Valkyrie Skull Squadron I picked up at the Secret Society of Modelers yearly show at Gillespie Field
