Baby got new shoes! And a bath.

This is the '61 Falcon I posted a little while back - just got a full set of NOS AMT compact tires and open wheels from a '63 Fairlane (which need to be modded to four-lug or get hubcaps), and stripped off a whole bunch of white paint, followed by some more stubborn blue paint. Thinking of deleting the side trim to backdate it to '60 since I have the grille.

As I got it:

It brings back some memories for me as well. Back in high school I had a friend who's dad had one just like it, ( it was even beige) My freind would drive it on occasion & I remember we used to call it the Flintstone mobile. The floor boards were so rusted away that you could see the road go by under you & you literally had to watch where you put your feet! :D Ahh, to be young again! Steve

Besides the ones I got last week, here's another lot I purchased today...

Bottom left is a 63 Pontiac Bonneville convertible

Bottom right is a 'All American Models' 61 Plymouth Fury...

Time to get busy ;)

Nice haul Ray, that 71 Impala kit is my all time holy grail. That was my first 1:1 car and have yet to find a kit of it.

Made it to the DuPage model swap meet and picked up four cans of various purple pearl and metallics, a prewired distributor from the nice folks at Missing Link, and a very cheap deal on a '66 Fairlane kit (aka early Ranchero/Falcon/Comet chassis donor) - $8.00. Was hoping Okey Spaulding would be there with his Jo-Han goodies, but not this time. Did get to chat with Robert from Chrome Tech USA who was kind enough to answer a lot of detailed questions I had.

Thanks mate, I wonder if anyone has built that 71 Impala 'Wild' as the box art suggests......I know I wont be !

Not since about 44 years ago. I hope.

I don't usually post on this thread. I've recently acquired 3 truck related things. AITM 351, Mack LJX and Mack A51 conversions. Also got an Airfix Quickbuild Aventador. I'm really impressed with the airfix quickbuild so far. Plan to get the Veyron and P1. Cheers.

The remains of someone's collection, more like parts hoard, were spread out for sale at the recent Jersey Shore Model Car Club meeting. I looked at this old relic and must've put it down a couple of times, but in the end I knew it was coming home with me. It goes on the antique build shelf.

How is the quality on this stuff? I have been looking for jack stands and engine stands.

I just got 2 packages of the photo-etched scribers that were reviewed in the January issue on page #5. I've been trying to figure out how I was going to re-scribe around the window trim on a couple kits...boom!!!!! Page 5 is what I needed!!!! They even show it being used for that! Awesome product...I bought 1 pack of the normal parallel scribes & 1 pack of the wide ones. They are from Ireland... only took a week to get them!!!!!! The exchange was only $23 for both packs & that also included shipping!!!!!

Check 'em out, nice stuff!!

seatbelts-vi.jpg

1/25 scale seat belts! A life time supply! AKA 1/16" double face satin ribbon. I splurged at $4 a roll and bought black, brown, gray and white. The white takes a Sharpie real well to give me any color belt I need. Local stores (even JoAnn's) don't stock the 1/16", so I went to that famous auction place. Caution - the ones I bought were the best deal in the category, $3.95 a roll for 100 yards. Other vendors had much smaller rolls for much more $$. Package threw me off since it came with a man's name and Wayne, NJ PO so I thought it was something to do with NNL East!

Got my 2014 Corvette promo today in the mail today. I also got two of the easiest model kits I've ever had the pleasure of building. Revell's SnapTite Build & Play 2015 Mustang GT (in yellow), and Revell's SpanTite Build & Play Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The simplest and quickest kits I've ever put together. Despite their easy of assembly, I like them both a lot. I saw the Jeep at the MCCM meeting, and liked what I saw. The detail and look is pretty good. The Mustang also looks very nice. But, unlike the Jeep which has a fair amount detail in the chassis. The Mustang has no detail in the chassis at all. It just a flat, smooth piece of plastic. But somehow that's okay. Both are curbsides that will look great sitting on the shelf. Both kits are recommended for ages 6 and above. I wish they would have had kits like this when I was 6. It's a good way to start in the hobby, and still get good results. I love it.

I'm actually pretty tempted to see how it would look if it was had a cantilevered roof like Lil' Coffin! Not like it cost me anything so far!
