stitchdup Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I've been treating myself recently as a reward to myself for working over 300 hours a month. Some were trades on other forums and others from various second hand stores and i got a lot of resin stuff too. I gave the above firebird to one of my friends. He has been asking a lot of questions about my models and eventually asked where to get them. I gave him this kit along with a basic set of files, an exacto and some glue. To help him along we are building alongside each other (I'm doing the foose kit). I think he will be a good builder as he used to be a jeweller so I'm sure he'll have some tricks that he'll find the above firebird has 2 full kits in the box, shame the chassis are so simple though No pics of the resin unfortunately, but Ed Fluck and clearly scales resin is beautiful stuff, better than some plastic kits I've had. I also got some 18eightyone wheels and am pretty dissapointed with the casting on them, seem to be a lot of voids in them

ewetwo Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 What I got today. The blue fan, Omni directional antenna, sprayer, and the Edsel, Henry J, Pontiac Catalina, 1953 Chevrolet, and T-bird models all for $40 at an estate sale. The plastic colored bladed fans are almost as good as a metal bladed fan. And much better than what you can buy in stores now. The blade are kind of transparent when they are going which is cool and they are really quiet. I have several of those fans but not one that big. The Charger I got with a 50% off coupon at Micheal's. And the Packard and Firebird at a flea market.
SfanGoch Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Got the last of the three Johan '31 Caddys I was looking for. Now, I can start scrounging up Johan Mopars.

SfanGoch Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 The Johan '31 Caddys and Mercedes 500K kits are among the best in terms of detail produced by any manufacturer> Considering that they are over fifty years old says a lot about John Hanley's dedication to accuracy on a small scale.
SfanGoch Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Geez David, you and Leslie got some swell loot. Like Bruce said, nice haul.

SfanGoch Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I wish. I'm fresh out of uncles. I'm constantly scouring ebay and various online shops for good deals, of which there are plenty if you are patient and smart. I ain't dropping a C-note for a '64 Caddy or '68 Fury police car when I know I can get them for 25-35 bucks. I have a fleet of unbuilt Police Furys that cost me less than 30 bucks each. I didn't pay more than $25 for any of the three '31 Caddys or the two Mercedes 500Ks either. The two '64 Caddys I have so far set me back $52 total. I'm not cheap; but, I don't buy on impulse, either.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 I'm a happy camper today. Managed to get another sealed '48 Convertible, another sealed '53 Crestliner, plus some new release kits, a display casing, and some paint.
SfanGoch Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Revell paints, both enamel and acrylic, are fantastic. I still have about forty still good tins of 1981 vintage enamels I bought when I was stationed in FRG last century.
cobraman Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Two more kits arrived today that my wife ordered for mr for Fathers Day . Somehow she got the idea that I like Cobra’s .
426 pack Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 (edited) I got these 4 today. they all appear to be complete but the blue 56 Chevy has a broken window pillar. Edited June 23, 2018 by 426 pack

But when you start getting into things like a '66 Plymouth Fury, a '66 Chrysler 300 or a '63 Dodge Polara, it's a different game than a '64 Cadillac. I wish you luck, but a lot of the old Johan Mopars are scarce as hens teeth & the prices generally reflect that. Steve
SfanGoch Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Of course I know that the Mopars go for large amounts of cash. But, as I said, you can find them at great prices if you scour the internet long enough.I recently missed the opportunity to snag an unbuilt Polara for $49.99, an unbuilt Marlin for $39 and unbuilt '66 and '68 300s for $45 and $49 respectively. Those I saw listed at hobby store sites, not ebay. I was slow in inquiring about those kits and they were gone by the time I did.

I can see the Marlin & the '68 300 for those kinds of prices on a good day, & maybe the Polara depending upon the year, but I'll tell you what, If you get another chance to buy a '66 300 for $45.00, jump on it! Now I'm back to one job where i work 70 hours one week then have 3 weeks off. I thought I deserved to treat myself after all that, lol

KWT Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 (edited) Just got these in the mail this morning... not particularly happy with the way the badger was shipped... but now to find a compressor. Edited June 23, 2018 by KWT
Renegade Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Just got back from HL. No clearance kits as posted in my store yet. Was looking down and happened to see this one. Even with the 40% off, I couldn't see paying $21.00 plus tax. Closeout for $8.74 plus tax. Got out for less than ten bucks. My kind of pricing.
Ich_Will Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Hot diggity! Building all the cool Mercedes stuff I can find
ZTony8 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 I hit one HL here and scored the Mc Ewen Top Fueler, the '64 Color Me Gone, The AMT '57 Ford, The '64 Thunderbolt, the '48 Ford Coupe, and that Grim Reaper bike along with some paint and some X-Acto blades at the 75% clearance price.
