My brother came in from out of town and brought me these. They're regifts that he said he'd never get around to building.
I've got plans for the 53 but the other two I think will either be kitbashed or slump busters someday.

I'm convinced this whole model thing is actually two hobbies.

The first, which I'm much better at, is acquiring kits and expanding the stash.

The second is actually building and finishing kits.

Anyway...

Finally found this one locally.

And snagged these too.

My 1/16 Revell Jeep CJ7 with Suzuki RM 400 finally arrived.  Everything looks to be intact but I will have to repair a few parts.

Mike, how is the kit? I know Revell had a habit of just blowing up their 1/25 kits to 1/16 back then but I don't think they had a 1/25 scale CJ-7 at the time.

What I'm wondering is how close to the 1/24 Monogram kit does it look?

I know they were competing companies back when that kit was made but I wouldn't be surprised if Revell just cribbed the Monogram kit and blew it up to 1/16 scale.

The last few days I've been indulging in acquiring more Mustang and Trans Am kits, specifically '80s Monogram kits.

The Revell '82 Mustang convertible is one I've never had before, same with the racing Mustang.

Got 3 of the new Revell '71s.  One to do stock, one to do '70s style day 2 street machine, one to do in modern Pro Touring style.

The '79 Cobra and 89 Mustang convertible I built as a kid, but wanted fresh ones to build again. There is an empty '89 box in there, to replace the one for the kit I built originally, the original box got destroyed over the years. I have the MPC '79 IPC, but not the Monogram one.

As far as the 3 Trans Ams, I have and built the '82 and '89 20th Anniversary kits, but never had the '83, '85 and '87 (all molded in black).

The 80s were my most productive period of kit building, go to get back to building and finishing....love the cars of that decade.

I agree, it would probably be easier for Revell to do that, but the more I look at the parts in this kit the more it looks like a completely different kit. first hint of this is the roll cage is unlike anyone that Monogram or Revell have used before. The same might be said for the tires, engine block and various other parts. it's definitely a different kit.

I forgot to mention that there was no instruction sheet. * Probably won't need one but if anybody has one laying around,  could use some help.

These came in the mail yesterday. The chassis from the screw bottom fits the resin wagon so I'm set there. However, if anyone has a spare front grill and rear bumper for a 59 Pontiac I'd love to have a set for the original body.

Later-

Yeah, I started building as a kid in the late 70s and built through the 80s into the early 90s.  Monograms were an early favorite.   Some of these are filling in the gaps and are kits I wish I had bought then but didn't...

Got my order from C1models: Nice stuff, Death in Paradise soon to be alive.

Not bad for order less than a month from England without special postage.

Fresh from the post-office (from ebay Austria):

For those who are interested in the BMW M1 ProCar (1979 series winner: Niki Lauda) - this has also the Marlboro decals included for the "tobacco version" according to the instructions which show also a "non-tobacco version" like the box top picture (with accordingly different masking template for the front hood):

Complete and not showing any tire damage.

Very cool kit and tough to find in any form. Congrats!
