Next couple of months patreon content showed up the 359 alone i have over 40 parts planned. the 49 is gonna get scanned and some new front and rear ends will be made but mostly want to reverse engineer it so i can make a completion kit for the Flintstone bodies

Where ever yall live, I envy you for stores with interesting and new kits. My Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnn's etc. never have any new releases.  And my LHS says he will order you anything you want, after three unsuccessful tries I gave up.

A few things over the last couple of months.....

I don't have plans to build either of them as emergency service vehicles. Both are particular cars I don't have in scale form, so it was good to get them in whatever guise.

Sadly this one has a rather squashed roof, but I knew that when I bought it. Appropriately it got delivered on a day when I was using my 1:1 LS400.

My LHS bought out a collection and some of the car kits in the collection have started to trickle out onto the shelves, and this was one of them! Not a very exciting kit, but, it was the remnants of the old price tag that pushed me over the edge, Play Co Toys and Hobby, which used to be a bit from where I grew up and holds lots of good memories. Sadly, Play Co closed down in the late 90's to early 2000's.

Those built up nice and looked good when done.

Too bad Monogram chose to use it to modify into the '70 that's available now instead of just making a new mold.

The Hobart, IN store did the same thing - cleared everything out and seemed like that was the end.

Then about two weeks ago I stopped in and suddenly they had some kits again.  Not much of a selection, but tags for several more kits than what they had.  Big news was the 1971 442 kit for $29.99.  My HL still has them stickered at $39.99.

Last week they had a 30% off coupon so I grabbed one.  This week they had a 40% which gets it below $20 so I had to get one more.

Yes, they were pretty much cleaned out of automotive models…and all the Testors paints and model related supplies are completely gone. It looked like they were done with us…then a load of  Wranglers and Mustangs appeared. And it looks like they got some of the Peterbilts in too.?

I had Lamborghini Miuras in 1/24 and 1/12, but for years I've been wanting to do a build of Bob Wallace's hot-rod Jota.

A couple of the Hasegawa 1/24 versions came up well under market-asking, so I sprung for both of 'em.

                                     

The wheels in the kit aren't correct for the original Jota (which was destroyed; the kit represents a semi-replica built from a real Miura), so that will need to be addressed as well, along with other details to backdate the kit to the appearance of the original.

Though the kit's engine is basically a plate with some semi-blobular bits, and the rear subframe is lacking details, there's enough there to get a start on scratch-bashing something better. This is one car where the engine/drivetrain (V12 sidewinder) is so integral to the design that it HAS to get a reasonably presentable rendition, and an opening rear deck to show it off. Four of the 3-barrel downdraft Webers I've been collecting primarily for Porsche 911s will find a home here.

                                             

The first 1:1 Miura I worked on had been hit in the rear, and the gorgeous hole-punched rear subframe had simply been pulled out on a frame rack, the remaining kinks puttied over and squirted with undercoating, leaving the lightening holes warped and distorted...and the structure severely weakened. Chassis rigidity wasn't the early Miura's strong point anyway, so it's doubly tragic that such incompetent hackers ever got their hands on one of these jewel-like machines. What it's supposed to look like, below.

How COOL is THAT!!! Used to see Triline trucks locally a lot back in the day. They were really cool looking and you knew what it was in a blink of an eye, but we don’t see them at all any more. Sadly. I miss seeing them. I plan to do a Freightliner cab over in the old colors.

Another thrift store find: sealed NOS Monogram '65 Chevy SS 396 CHEAP...too cheap to let it go.

Partially crushed box, rolled the dice, got it home...everything IN the box is 100%.

                                        

It wants to be something kinda like this...semi sleeper smallblock-powered pro-touring, fat blackwalls, steel-look 18" alloys, poverty caps etc. (yes, I know it's not a '65 in the dark-car photo).
