Cheep Chinee set of 1/4" indexable cutters for the Unimat, will work fine with the Sherline too of course.

They LOOK OK, and come in a nice little wooden box, but only time will tell if they're decent.

5 pc 1/4" Lathe Indexable Carbide Insert + Turning Tooling Bit Holder Set - Picture 1 of 7

As a former plumber turned machinist, this excites me.

I went to Hobby Lobby last week and was surprised to find Revell's 2022 Corvette Stingray.  It was priced at $40.99.  Bought it for $24.59 with the 40% discount.  It looks like a really nice kit.  A lot of parts though.  It took me about 1 1/2 hours to inventory the parts.

Not today, but a few days ago. Correct wheels for the Charger Pursuit, a '71 Duster grille, and a grille for whatever year builtup D100 I have in the restore queue. I think it is a '74, but I have to find it first.

My Model Car Club just had a small kit auction due to a small donations of vintage build ups being donated to the club. Best way to disperse them is via auction and it benefits our treasury.

One of those kits was one that I have been after for quite some time. They are either really expensive or really bad. And that is the MPC Dick Jesse's Mr. Unswitchable GTO funny car. And yes, I know that it is nowhere near accurate to the read deal, but I am looking at this with eyes of a regular model builder.

I was surprised how not bad it is for being a brush job built up from back then. Glue is not too bad and it could be easily restored, but, the question now is, should I restore it or just leave it alone?

Leaning more towards preservation and display as is, but, I do have some decals just in case.

I'd just clean that GTO up, and in the display case it goes.  I never did find a complete one, but did find a parts box with the roof from one in it.

I took a customer to the mall about an hour ago. He had a cane and and moved slowly. While he went to GNC to get supplements I cruised the toy store next door.

They had Anime and Gundam kits, but on the bottom shelf was a Stranger Things VW and Blazer. Right next that was this adorable little kit from Aoshima. They had all three movie kits there. I almost bought em all. But since I didn't know what I was getting into I just got this.

Pull back motor and it's about 1/35 or a tad smaller. I see BTTF and I look closer.

I'll def put some work into this to make it look cooler than it already is.

I would restore the body & leave the rest as is....

A great many of us buy old kits or reissues because we want to build them with the acquired skills of the decades that have passed

As cool as this build is, seeing brush painted bodies does something to me. It's almost as if it invades my soul.

Your last sentence summed it up. Restore the body (you have the decals, was it fate?) and then leave the rest as is.

Best of both worlds. But you do as you see fit.

I would be interested in your input about that epoxy putty & liquid foil paint when you get the chance.

Found an actual brick and mortar hobby shop today! Unfortunately my funds were a little short. These aren't what I would normally build but since rhey were on clearance they will make nice parts kits. $5 each for the Sting Ray III's and $7 for the Banshee. $8 for the paint. Out the door for $26.50!

Later-
