jrherald420 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I think I'm going to let my certs expire. I've got a1 through a8
2000-cvpi Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 It's been a busy month and have not posted much. But I sure have been stocking up on kits. The family and I went on vacation to Marquette in the Upper Peninsula and found a lhs that's part of a 1 to 1 body shop. Stopped a Riders hobby shop in Grand Rapids on the way back from the UP. And picked up some consignment kits from the local shop here in town. As well as several Hobby Lobby stops along the way.
2000-cvpi Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) While pulling the pictures from photobucket for my last post, I found the pictures of some built up kits that I bought several months ago at an antique store. I'm not sure that I ever posted pictures of them, but I will now. They were kinda expensive at 18.00 each, but they are nicely built for the era with minimal tube glue, and spray paint instead of the usual tons of Testors bottle paint. The light blue Impala is the original Craftsman kit. The other Impala is a screw bottom 68, which I've never seen before. Mostly because I haven't looked for one, but it's still a neat builder. tbill Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Corey, great haul of kits! some interesting stuff in that stash
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Got these yesterday at the Model Cave in Michigan when I went to pick up the rest of my stuff out of storage (Yay!!! One less bill now) Paid $20 for the Sunbird, and ten bucks a piece for the others...

The '68 Impala is worth the entire amount you paid for all of them all by itself. Great score!
peter31a Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 What did I get today? Multiple bee stings. The little buggers decided to make a nest in the ground some time between last week's lawn cutting and this week's lawn cutting. Luckily I'm not allergic although I took some antihistamine so it's not as sore but I'm now a little dopey and typing is a challenge. And here I was feeling sorry for the bee population dying off. Now of course you realize, "This means war!"
Daddyfink Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Got something I have wanted for quite some time, a Cheetah! It is the older Exotic Miniatures version that I believe is a pull of the old Cox body, but, it is in great shape!

ffreak Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Danny, took 7 re-certs and passed them all keeps me master certified for a total of 20 years now. also have light diesel cert [although I don't really know jack about them, and don't work on them much, but had to have the cert for work]. Tom, I am a paint junkie, for color selection.....I usually get 2 cans of each color [just in case I need to put a body in the pond], and yes, I get several variations of color as well. never know when panzer gray is gonna click with a paint scheme I had mine for 24 years. Had to keep them for work also, along with some Chevrolet Certs for part of that time. My body thanks me for letting them expire now !! Last few days I have gotten some of the Rubbermaid brand boxes and some fishing tackle trays to organize all my glues, paints, files and supplies to set on my worktable while i'm building, then to be able to carry with me everything when I go to my son's house or to friends to have a building session together. Just makes it more organized and easier to find things that way.
om617 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I really like old cars ,and Japanese are no exception. Got these yesterday.
glock Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I get this book on the last Twelve Hours of Sebring . 80 pages with 190 pictures and result

I have set up a large rolling tool box, a tool carousel on my bench and lots of hooks over the bench where things are supposed to go. While building, all the tools wind up in a big pile on the bench and then I'm searching through it for things. So I've been making a conscious effort to put things back in their spot as I work.

Yes your right Tom. So far i've been able to do that. When i'm done with a building session I put things back in place. That comes from all my years as a mechanic. Everytime I was through with a specific job on a car it was just natural for me to clean all my tools and put them back in my tool box where they belong so that when I grab the next car I knew exactly where things were. I won't say I was anal about it, but it was just an aquired procedure, and I try to carry that over to the model bench.

That grill doesn't look familiar. 1980, I believe..and that's probably a JDM-specific grille...US market ones seemed to have a grille with 'TOYOTA' block lettering.

March 1979- June 1987 The "DX' version was marketed in only Asian markets, and the round headlights/grill style was offered "in most countrys" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corolla_%28E70%29 Edited August 4, 2014 by martinfan5
Tom Geiger Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 March 1979- June 1987 The "DX' version was marketed in only Asian markets, and the round headlights/grill style was offered "in most countrys" Thanks. I need the version prior to this, the 1975-78 Corolla Deluxe. My first brand new car was a 1978 Corolla Deluxe wagon, that I was handed as a company car. I enjoyed it very much, and put 100,000 miles on it in two years. When I met my wife her family had a 1976 4 door sedan. So I'd like to build something similar someday.
