Any thoughts out there on my posting #13327, requesting help?

Scott

Acting on a recent tip that was posted here on the Forum, I started searching for a set of 13" tires from the recently reissued "Ohio George" Falcon Ranchero kit. Got a set for free from a local model club member, as he was going to put bigger wheels on his Ranchero.

I compared them to what was in one of my original Corvair kits. They look great and fit just fine.

So, unless your dead-set on obtaining the resin tires from Modelhaus, the Ranchero tires might be a good alternative.

I'm not too much into big rigs, but I saw this at my LHS , and I've always liked the look of these cabs, so I went out on a limb and bought it. My question is...what year(s) would this be? No info on box.

Take your pick, it was produced from 67 to 90. 33 years. All kidding aside, there were some subtle changes over the years. research is required. Check Chuck's post. Quite a bit if info there.

My understanding it represents the latest C-series Ford at the time the first C-series kit was tooled up. It's a represents a 1971 or '72 version of the truck. The one you picked up is the same one I have, put out through Stevens International. I liked it because I choose what goes the back. I never liked the stake bed or plain cargo box versions. I built mine a few years back with the main intension of hauling AMT's car transport trailer. The Ford got finished. The trailer is still waiting. I don't remeber any major problems with mine. It went together fairly well. And looks very good.

And thanks to everybody else for the advice on the tires for my Corvair. I have the Ohio George Ranchero. But plan on using those tires on that kit. So I'm wondering if there is anybody out there interested in getting rid of a set of theirs?

That version of Ford's C-series cabover first appeared in 1957. It was already ten years old by 1967. I don't remember what the exact last year was. I believe it was 1990 or '91. Mack also used Ford's C-series cab on a model they offed for a short time the 1960's. Still one of my all time favorite trucks. Though I do like the '58 through '60 version, with the quad headlamps the best.

Scott...Modelhaus showes the T-265 tires come with his complete 2nd series (ie65-69) Corvair kits.

Thanks Mike. That was the other set of tires from them that I wondering about. After reading and thinking about your above comment on them, I decided to go over the their site and order a set. So that's what I just did. Problem solved. Thanks for yours and everybody else's help on this.

By they way, a couple of days ago I also ordered the '66 Corvair convertible windshield frame from them. So I can convert my latest '69 to a convertible. Has anybody else ever used this part from them, and know what you get and how you install it? I'm also thinking I may have to order a '66 partial Corvair 4-door hardtop kit from them next. Man, I love those Corvairs.

That cab didn't originate with Ford. It was originally produced by a body builder... was it Budd? And adapted to Ford. One of those enduring designs right up there with the VW Beetle and Checker Cab!

Got Revell's last issue of their SnapTite '77 Monte Carlo. The one molded in red, with factory rally wheels. Now to come up with a good color scheme. I'm thinking a blue with an overall white interior with blue accents (dash, carpet, package shelf).

Scott I remember an article on one of those windshield frames. Just do not remember what Mag did the article. I do not know what car it was but it included part of the cowle to the end of the hood or so.

From ebay here in the UK some custom seats. I'm told they are from AMT or Monogram from the 1960's! Each pair was on a separate auction......

Now the decision? Which pair to use in a custom Manx (my 8th Manx)?

Today I received my Revell promodeler 69 Dodge Charger kit, Ive been after one for sometime as it was one of the very first kits I built.

And would you believe it ............. It has the Early incorrect roof bodyshell ! Grrrrr

at least i think its the incorrect shell the side window openings look squat, but I could be wrong ...oh and it has the original decal sheet

Head over to the wanted section if you can help me out with a correct bodyshell. ;)

I think your correct on it being Budd. Budd built a few different bodies for Ford, including the '55, '56, '57 Thunderbirds. Despite it being built by Budd, I'd be willing to bet the C-series, like the 2-seat birds, were designed by Ford in house.
