I just tracked down a beautiful detail kit for the Starsky/Hutch Gran Torino. Was given this kit as a gift, but was too hideous as is for me to want to build it. Was never into this type of car, nor a model of it. I much prefer the daily driver, and cars the  public could buy and drive off a showroom floor. The detail kit allow you to build either a straight Gran Torino, Gran Torino Sport. of thankfully even the Gran Torino Brougham. Mine will be a Brougham in factory Saddle Bronze Metallic, an extremely popular color on this car in 75, 76. The kit even includes the hood ornament for the Brougham !!! I also tracked down a detail kit for the 83 Hurst Olds Cutlass and a flat hood. Another kit that as is, I would never build. Because of the interior, going to do mine as a Cutlass Calais, and will use factory Light Briar Brown for the paint. I gave up on any and all Testors and Tamiya paints a while ago, since the quality is never consistent with either. I use Dupont factory finishes, as they are the exact color the car was, and I have had no problems with adhesion or the finish at all. Costs more, but you get what you pay for.

Got this on E-Bay. I built several of these many moons ago. it's on my top 20 favorite car list.

I envy you. I wish they'd reissue that--or I could find one reasonable. But it would have to be a glue bomb, because I want to rod the thing! (Yes, I am evil.)

I'd been looking for this on E-Bay off and on for a long time, and all of a sudden some popped up. I bid on one but after I bid on it I was outbid. I bid it up to the point I was willing to pay, and was still outbid. This one was listed as sealed so I did a buy it now, then the seller said he made a mistake as it wasn't sealed and offered me $5 off the price, which was fair, but I turned it down. There was a third one listed with 0 bids but it was already at the max I wanted to pay, So I went back to open buy it noe one one I'd turned down and bought it. again.

I think a rodded version would be great. There are two of the 1966 version of this kit still on E-Bay.

Tell us more please. Any photos? And who makes it? Where did you get it? Does it have parts to make a stock Torino under the hood? We need more info.

This thing followed me home from the local toy show. Dunno know why, but something about it spoke to me. And, it was cheap.

I'm going to leave the bizarro paint job—which is actually pretty well done—alone, except perhaps for trying to polish it out. Seems to have a workable layer of clear gloss on it.

With the hole in the hood, I'm kinda married to the idea of a blower sticking out. But I'm sure I can make it look better.

So with an exposed blower, I guess the only thing I can do with it is make a late-'70s Street Freak out of it. So be it! Unless someone has a better idea. No, I'm not gonna strip it and repaint—it's not worth the effort, and that would kinda defeat the whole appeal of the weird little thing.

Interesting concept. I'm having trouble imagining how the VW drivetrain would work with/under the boat tail, but maybe it would.

My friend/boss has one. The VW setup fits pretty well under the boattail; I'm sure some liberties were taken with the original dimensions:

Bringing it home from the estate auction.

I want to know more about this. Earlier this year I bought a '50s Classic Player Stratocaster and I love it so much I'm thinking of getting the '60s Classic Player too.

That is a 2011 highway one. It's Nitro finished... I always wanted one, and this was way too good of a deal to pass up. After I looked it over, it's virtually perfect like it was never played. So even better than I had hoped.

Got the windshield and frame from the Deora kit (thanks gardnerpag44!); it's getting used for its original purpose: back window for a Hubley '60 Ford wagon. Now if I can figure out what I did with the Ford's windshield...
