realgone58 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Just finished this one up today. I bought it new in 1984. It's a JoHan re-issued X-EL promo. Took it apart, cleaned it, re-finished the interior correctly, buffed out the body (factory Turbine Bronze metallic), stripped and re-shot the bumpers in Alclad, (original chrome was shot), blackwashed where applicable, "redwashed" the tail light panel, and then did all the BMF. I've always wanted this in my case, now I can finally put it in there!
george 53 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 It came out BEAUTIFULLY! It was always a beautiful car, and you've built a beautiful copy of it!
Erik Smith Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Great looking car. That red wash looks very good on the taillights.
Tom Geiger Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Very nice. I have two of those, molded in bright taxi yellow, that I have had for as many years. Someone had swiped the chassis out of them, put both remainders in the same box and sold it to me for $3. Price tag is still on the box. I need to figure out what chassis would work under the Chrysler.
Renegade Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Great job. You can be proud to add it to your showcase.
Austin T Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 That car has lots of class. I need to get me one of them.
Albie D Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Awesome, clean build. It looks great stock, but I cant help imagining what a nice mild custom this would be...
doggie427 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Simply beautiful, clean build of a neat 60's Mopar
Sixties Sam Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 That's a rare one in real or model form. Very nice work on it. It looks classy and clean! Sam
W-Machine Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Man, that is very sharp looking and cleanly detailed.
oldcarfan Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Love your build! As I get older, I find myself wanting to build less common cars. I'm tired of Mustangs and Camaros.
Rob Hall Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Beautiful...I have an older promo of this car in cream w/ a black top w a 'Tournament of Roses' parade decal.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I've never seen one of these before, in scale or 1:1. Very nice work.
TooOld Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Alan , that is beautiful ! Great job rebuilding it back to pristine condition . I love those big Chryslers !
charlie8575 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I remember a nice, clean '68 4-door for sale when I was in college. If I had the money, or could've found a way to get it... Very nice job on that. Charlie Larkin
