I made a huge tower out o dirt in Minecraft earlier.

I fell off it and died, then I had respawned way away from my city.

I had to find my way back through trial and error.

Half an hour of walking through deserts, taigas, and forests... Swam across an ocean and then I was back!

Wait until it pays $15 an hour to flip fries.

They'll just cut the part-timer's hours down to 20 (or less) a week. And since practically everyone at a fast food place is part-time, that basically means they'll be making the same amount they are now in take-home pay. I doubt you'll feel be the one feeling the pain, though the way these companies work, who knows? Maybe they'll cut everyone's hours and STILL jack up the prices.

You just earned your honorary MBA. B)

Anyone can be a corporate executive... all one has to do is check common decency at the door, and do the exact opposite of what your gut tells you is right. :P

Anymore, I'm pretty sure those sorts of folks were born without common sense, common decency, and lack of the "talkitive gut" ;)

When I got a divorce in 1990 I got a job at Hardees to keep me busy on week ends and keep my mind off things. I was just suppose to work week ends 20 hours. Then it turned to 45 hours. They work the good people to death and let the clueless and lazy ones slack. You would not believe how lazy and clueless some fast food workers are. I saw some bad stuff and stopped most.

Clueless? They've got workers at McDonalds who can't even put the fish filet on the center of the bun, and they want a hike in their minimum wage? A lot of these people have "minimum skills" and they want more money, yeah right.

Man, expecting the fish fillet to be on the center of the bun is the kind of perfectionism that could drive the company out of business. We should just all be glad we even have the fish in the same bag as the bun, and be willing to center it, or even cook it if necessary, ourselves. ;);)

PS. I've known a few MBA holders who couldn't be employed if getting the fish fillet in the center of the bun was one of the required skills.

I'm going to award you a TKO with style points for that. Keep preachin' the message, Bill. Maybe someday it'll sink in out there.

So for about $5 you want someone to prepare you a meal and get everything visually appealing and you are complaining that they are making too much money. You get what you pay for. Walk a mile in the minimum wage earners shoes before you complain about what they earn. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I love this. "Prepare you a meal" (which implies some culinary skills) isn't the same thing as sticking something in a warmer and putting it in a bag. Neither is "get everything visually appealing" (which implies some food-design skills) the same as getting the fish actually ON the dammed bun. If those "skills" are worth $10 per hour, I should be making about $1000.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people on this board started their work history in some kind of entry-level job. Those who strive to get things right the first time / every time tend to move up within the business or on to better things elsewhere. It's about attitude and aptitude. And if you think fast food workers deserve $15.00 an hour, you obviously know nothing about economics. Entry-level jobs are meant to be a first step into the world of work. It's up to you to learn what you can & take your knowledge and experience to the next step.

Entry level is just that entry level.

But why do people expect them to act like the best cook in the world?

Why is it that people expect more from a fast food entry level employee than they do the people running companies?

Why is it people change the order so many times they forget what they ordered themselves expect so much.

Answer : HUMANS! LOL

Life goes on take a deep breath and walk on.

I had an "entry level" job back in the 60's and if I got a quarter raise, it was a lot. I never "flipped" burgers or filet 'O fish though. And if its too hard to put the filet in the center of the bun, just leave it outside the bun, in this day and age NOBODY cares do they? But when they're not making enough money, they scream. If a person can't do their job right, they should get let go, as there are other people waitin' in line for that persons job.

"Best cook in the world" = getting fish fillet in middle of bun.

I didn't know it was that easy.

Wow Bill, you are ranting in this thread too? Your blood pressure must be through the roof! :P

I don't expect a Michelin 4 star dining experience at a fast food place, but getting the basics right is expected. The new Dunkin Donuts in my neighborhood can't seem to get drive through orders right..wrong quantity, missing items, wrong donuts...arrrgghhhh.

Alas, even more expensive restaurants are prone to issues. Went to a nice restaurant for dinner Friday night (local place that's about $50 each with wine)...appetiZers came out after entrees, one entree was undercooked/raw, etc. frustrating....
