..."Hey... ummm... they denied the request because you haven't been here long enough."

I'd be pretty...let's just say "miffed".

Nothing like a consistent policy everybody's on board with, eh?

It becomes "child abuse" when one parent says to the one holding the belt "be sure you don't leave any marks where the teachers can see them".

Aren't teachers providing a good amount of child abuse with the in class curriculum er, I mean, agenda?

I'd have to agree with you on that one, yup.

To add insult to injury they used the cowboy belt I was wearing and then beat me like a drum with it. What used to be called "Corporeal Punishment" is now classified as "Child Abuse". I guess I was just a slow learner as to what I could get away with.

Phone books don’t leave any marks either.lol

My mouth kept me on a first name basis with entire HR departments of almost every place I ever worked. You get used to it.

I could tell you HR stories that would curl your hair*, if you still have yours.

Handy tip: Get the HR people laughing, too. ;)

*One of my favorites: One morning first thing, the office network system was down. I said, "I hope they get it fixed soon. This hot lesbian porn isn't gonna look at itself." It was a joke I'd heard on a popular network TV sitcom a few days before. Couple hours later I was in the HR director's office, where he repeated the joke to me and said, "You're just lucky [name of new girl in the office] wasn't in yet. You know she's a lesbian, don't you?"

"I didn't, until you just outed her," I replied. He gave me that "Oh S, I just F'ed up" look and said, "Well get out of here and don't do it again."

Nah. A good ol' fashioned whipping or three early in life would have benefited a lot of today's hyper-privileged whiny-baby snowflakes immensely.

Amen brother! We all have been punished by a wooden spoon on your arse or thighs, smack across the arse, etc... It never hurt or traumatized us one bit in our later years. It’s called learning our lessons for our stupidity as kids.

No wonder there are too many helicopter parents and spoiled kids. Sad to say, kids today are simply too spoiled and never experienced a good old fashioned punishment just as we had as kids during the 60s and 70s.

LOL! Reminds me a story one day I got called into my boss’s office. Apparently, one of the male couriers got too sensitive to an insult I called him. Mind you he was a laid off police officer to boot.

It was brought to my attention that I called him an @**h***.  My response was.... “Yeah? And what of it? A big boy as himself should handle it. Heck, I’ve been called that all my life. Ask my wife, she’ll tell you”

That was the end of that conversation cuz she had no response to my statement except to get out of her office. ROFL! I’m still working at my current place of employment and both the boss and employee have since been gone for 15 years or so now.

In january, the company I worked for lost their 3pl contract. They were replaced with another quickly and the transition took place roughly 6 months ago. The new company was gracious enough to hire on the people in the warehouse, and let them keep their "years employed". 2 months ago I was approached to be a supervisor for a new product line coming in. I thought it over and decided that I would indeed take the job. Filled out the application for "formalities" and had an my interview. During the interview I was told I'd be traveling to another state for training in what is now a week away... but before it can become official, since I had actually been with the company only 6 months he would have to get permission to give me the job. I asked why he hadn't already done that? and that he had made it seem like a done deal. I was told not to worry about it, all he had to do was say this is what he wanted and it would go through. Get your affairs in order, the plane leaves on the the 13th... today... "Hey... ummm... they denied the request because you haven't been here long enough."

You might want to mention this conversation and their offer along with any written correspondence with their Human Resorces Office just for the record. Not saying they are, but I know of some instances in the past where a company situation that sounds like yours has used some creative ways to eliminate employees from the acquired company.

I've fixed eyeglass frames with both superglue and epoxy. One of these might work for you.

Exhibit A-  my poor 3 year old granddaughter ran over a yellow jacket nest and got 4 stings!  Kinda ruined the whole day.  Above is a video of the suckers swarming right before we sprayed them to hell. (Hit the forward arrow at bottom of post for the video!

Exhibit B- My Buick LaCrosse!  Neighbor next door backed his lawn tractor into my basketball hoop post, knocking it over directly into poor Buick.

Nice guy who has only been there a year or two..  says he’ll make good.. we will see.

I'm sorry to hear that your granddaughter get stung Tom. I hope she is doing OK.

I know you were probably angry but the time to spray them is after the sun goes down. They are all home then. The remaining ones may make a nest in a worse location.

Sad thing about your Buick. I do hope the neighbor makes good on the damage.

I hate yellow jackets and now I'm sure your grand daughter does too. Been stung quite a few times in my life and they've all been yellow jackets. I can work in the yard with bumble bees or honey bees right near me and they just go about their business. Just hope she doesn't become afraid of all bees now.

My wife is doing bills...she has a small business, just herself and one other employee which she opened at the beginning of the entire "covid" experience. It has grown and taken off but being as small as she is she may end up shutting down this year. Between increases in taxes, insurance, supplies it is just barely paying to stay open...

Tonight she opened her pos services bill which doubled in price, literally.

Looks like another hurricane is headed our way about Wednesday or Thursday.  The BIG plans we had for attending the 40th anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC may be for naught.

Saw that this morning and I thought of you. There is time it could change course or break up.

working on the boat trying to get it cleaned for potential purchasers to view in a couple of days. The guy doing days is leaving his jobs unfinished and marking them off as done. I;m supposed to be going in when he's finished jobs to clean but i'm spending more time finishing his jobs because i cant do my jobs until his is done. I'm not qualified to do any of the jobs i'm having to finish but i am capable. He's supposed to be this super qualified seaman with 30 years experience that can do everything but so far he's a waste of time. But while he seemingly incapable of doing even the simplest of his own tasks he has plenty of time to criticise  my work for not being finished. I'm trying to do my best work for my employer as he's always treated me well and this idiot is messing everything i up. An example of how bad this guy is, he wont lift the toilet seat cos I'm the cleaner and will be cleaning it later anyway and I put down cardboard at the doors to catch the dirt from the guys working in the engine rooms boots, and to give them a place to take off their dirty overalls and this guy took it upon himself to tear it all up and dump it cos why should i make my job easier. I'm about ready to throw him over the side cos i have my friend i look after refusing to eat or drink and i just dont have the patience to put up with this guys trash

Trust me, the thoughts have crossed my mind. This guy is not making a good impression on the ones of us that have stayed on... and his new ops manager (2nd in command) has turned out to be a jackwagon too... yay, two of 'em

More techie dweeb incompetence: my cell carrier set the time back an hour correctly when Standard Time resumed early Sunday morning, but apparently just to make sure, it was set back ANOTHER hour last night.

You should talk to someone over him or you.
