First in-the-flesh, going-down-the-road C8. Nice car, but for the cheese they want for it (and the lack of a manual gearbox), I'd rather have a well-sorted-and-tuned 600HP C5 Z06, and use the considerable change for years of insurance and gas.   B)

Waiting to see my first.  I agree about the price jacking but honestly, did anyone expect anything else?  I recall the 2005 Mustang refresh when I went in to look it over.  The salesman offered it to me for only $5K over sticker-for a V-6.  Hard pass.  I'll have to see it in the flesh (carbon, fiberglas?) but it greatly resembles any of a number of rear engine sports cars.  Not that that's a bad thing.

Revell did this 1:25th diecast a while back. The colour was called Fawn Beige:

In addition to the after market wheels I'm looking at the tires. They look like track day only tread and any ones guess on the compound.

Interesting custom bodykit also..never seen one like that.

The little badge on the back said something like “SUPERVETTE” or something along those lines. Those tires do look pretty sticky now you come to mention it @espo - perfect for blasting between all the corn fields out here ??

Spotted this as I was at the gas station today:

Sounded nice - wish I’d got a better pic!

Apparently you get to drive on the railroad out here ?

Another sighting that I wish I’d got a better photo of:

And, as a New Yorker I was weirdly excited to see this little mail truck - never saw one of these before!  Only ever saw the ‘regular’ size Grumanns or whatever they’re called - it’s cute ?

Where were you at? Those postal rigs have been used all over the west for decades.  They are actually a Chevy S-10 chassis.

This was in Valparaiso, Indiana - but we were in NYC before.  Never saw one of these little trucks in New York before!

I want one! ?

I've seen those Grumman postal trucks everywhere I've lived the last 25+ years...SE Michigan, Colorado, Arizona, NE Ohio...  been in use for decades, they tend to catch fire I've read.

Greenlight does some diecast ones in 1/64th, not sure if they have any larger scale ones.    What do they use in NYC?

No - I want a REAL one ?. I’d lower it a little, tune it, paint it a nice color and have a weird USPSrod ??

In New York I only ever saw these:

Which is weird, because those small ones would be MUCH better in a city with constant gridlock and near no parking.  I guess the volume of mail that they need to move limits them to the larger vans though?

Yeah, one would think the small ones would be useful in tightly packed neighborhoods.

There are some neat LS-swapped ones out there...googling turned up pics of a couple hot rod mail trucks.

In New Jersey today I saw this huge Ford 4x4 monstrosity and snapped photo one with my phone. My wife yelled, “Don’t be taking pictures while driving! Give me the phone and I’ll take pictures!”  And this is what we got...

Managed to get to my first car show of this strange year, a local one for customs. I suspect there were several other events on too, or at least people making use of a half-decent day before autumn/winter is upon us, on virtually all of the way home I was following or being followed by another old car.

As I left the show, quite by chance this tidy 1988 Mazda drove past and we followed it for a while. I've seen it before and had a chat with the owner.

1970 Cadillac followed me in turn. This and the gasser had been at the show as well.

The Ford ended up behind me for quite a while, great to see it on the move and certainly made for an imposing sight in my mirror. Just noticed that Focus travelling the other way is a fairly early example, how can they be over 20 years old now?!

IMG_3717.JPG.e994997b4f4d23e52e4715829bc0c441.JPG

Turned onto another road, lost the gasser then ended up behind this Beetle. Was getting along well.

Finally, this Alfa was following me.

Fortunately my son was a little more adept at taking shots on the move than Mrs Geiger ?

Got several hundred photos from the show, I'll eventually get them onto my Flickr account. Have only just uploaded those from last year......

Not really on the road, but at a cookout. A good friend of mine got this beauty out today. He's had it apart for a few months for some fixes. Good to see it back on the road.
