So I had to make a trip from Palm Springs to San Louis Obispo, central coast. 5 hours each way. Drove up last night and back down this morning. My biggest spotting day where there wasn't a car show

3 ferrari 360s, 1 F430, 1 458 Italia, Aston Martin Rapide, many Porsche Panameras, 2 911 Turbos, a 1927 ford hot rod with an unchopped body, Porsche 356 Speedster, 2 current body style Shelby Gt500s, Maserati Gran Turismo, Camaro ZL1.

There was more but that's all I remember off the top of my head

It was hard to get a good picture of it, but this excursion had been completely decked out at their local shucks. It had all of the stick on vents and hood scoops, It was on my way to Redding California. And then in the parking lot of waterworks park in redding, I saw this Tacoma with roadkill style master lock door locks

Friday, on my way home from work, I was behind a '57 BelAir HDTP done just right. Hot-rod black, California rake, emblems shaved and a very crisp-sounding V8; had to have been a small-block. Driver and passenger with elbows out, enjoying the winding country road on a beautiful summer evening.

Most "collectible" '57s in this neck of the woods are over-restored trailer queens you only see at shows. How refreshing to see a couple of young dudes enjoying their "driver." Took me right back to high school. My ride (one of them, anyway) was a '64 Impala, 365/327 (out of a wrecked Corvette), M-22, black lacquer, Torque Thrusts, rolled and pleated interior, California rake, etc.

Wish I had a time machine.

PB.

I hear ya Paul... cars before they became too high ticket to afford and enjoy! Here's the front of my house circa 1978. My '56 210 2 door sedan, and in the driveway you can see my silver '66 Valiant and my '65 Barracuda below it.

I was in Detroit yesterday. The Woodward Dream Cruise ended on Saturday, and there were plenty of cars to be seen, even though most of them had gone home.

Some faves:

'85 Mustang rag top, cherry condition

Tons of prewar cars

'65 Impala convert...possibly the nicest example that I've ever seen.

'14 Camaro SS that had been tricked out. Not my style or colors, but I can appreciate car pride when I see it.

'67 Camaro

'59 Impala

'64 Impala

'50's era Chevy truck

New Vettes...does everyone in Detroit own a new 2014 Vette?

I actually saw so many cool cars that it is hard to remember them all.

No wonder they call Detroit the Motor City!

My goodness, Tom.

I love that old '56. I have a soft spot for the 55-57 Chevy.

Saw a very clean dark red early '90s 300ZX convertible (the ones w/ the basket hoop)...rarely ever seen one of those, esp. in stock clean shape.. always liked that gen of Z.

Today I drove by a medical office and couldn't believe what was in the parking lot with some guy in his twenties sitting in it. How about a 61`-62 Dodge Lancer station wagon! It looked pretty nice but not restored, and was completely stock, including the hubcaps. Don't think I've seen one oft hose since the late 1960s!

That is a rare sight! Even in Cali.

Around here the kids that age like those type of cars. They like them weird and wacky and they also like the 4 door car or more door as they call them. They are also cheaper .

I went to top off my 200 tonight and as I was walking back out to it at the E85 pump, there was a guy at the diesel pump next to it filling up a TDI VW with the trunk standing open and wearing heavy, black, rubber looking gloves.........

Red Jag E-type Series II convertible, and a white Ferrari 512 Boxer, both on the way back from the vet around noon.

How do you know it was a Series II just by a quick look? Aren't Series I and II virtually identical on the outside aside from the external bonnet latches? Isn't the difference between Series I and II basically all under the hood (and revised floor pan)?

Bigger bumpers and non-glass-covered headlights, if I remember correctly, on the II cars.

The headlights are pretty obvious, even at speed.

Hmmm... I thought the only difference between I and II was an increase in engine displacement. Guess I have my series mixed up.
