If they want a different age group to buy their product they need to expand into the 70's and 80's cars. I am not saying they need to spend every dollar on these kits but they need to put a few out there. The G body car in 1/25 scale is a good subject, they all shared the same frame suspension and roof I do believe. This would be a great start for several different models of these cars.

And the Cutlass of that era was one of- if not the- best-selling vehicles on the road.

Repeatedly striking a deceased equine........

^_^

Well I went to Revell models yesterday in Elk Grove and saw the test shots/ model build of the FE3-X and the 83Hurst Olds model. He let me take pics but asked I not publish them . But trust me looks really really cool, they have a few adjustments to be made , but looking really good. It's was neat holding a model of my car in my hand .
The 83 Hurst will be released first as a solo kit in Jan/ Feb 2016, followed by the FE3-X / 85 442 combo model . I'll keep you posted

I have heard from a reliable source that this kit is coming.

Has your source told you any details like scale? Whether it is based on the 1/24 Grand National tooling? Hopefully an all new 1/25 tool.

Good show!

Going by just about ANY recent Revell USA pattern involving new tooling, I think I'd put 10:1 on it being 1:25.  As others have said repeatedly, all-new, no relation to die-cast Donks, retro/simplified design as in the S&H Torino.  I'll reiterate, we only have what - nearly 30 years of Revell/Monogram re-scaling to 1/25 from patterns used for 1/24?

Long as the thing looks right. And if it does, a quarter-mile comp version down the line would be pretty awesome. B)

Not know.  Mongo only pawn in big game of life.

It would be great to see this kit hit the markets. That Oldsmobile is not actually what I've wanted to build for whole my life, but I would need probably two, or at least one, to be built as a Super Stock Drag Car. Interesting to see if this is really coming out or not.

Dean Milano told me yesterday that he's going to bring his built-up test shot of the still-born Revell 84 Cutlass to NNL this Saturday.

Art, it's an '87, Dean is standing right next to me ;^)

The '81 through '88 2dr Cutlass Supremes are virtually the same. The '86-'88 had rear window brake lights.

I was thinking that Revell could do a action version of the '81 cutlass with a 5.7L  diesel. You push the button and a spring makes the engine frags into a bunch of pieces and sprays a black fluid.

The biggest styling difference is the '87-88 had flush composite headlights, smaller grill openings, and reshaped bumpers.  Otherwise, it was yearly grill changes.

Rob, you are correct. I forgot about that. The Feds changed the law about sealed beam headlights and allowed light covers with different shapes. Apparently, the 1984 Lincoln is the first American car with replaceable headlight bulbs since 1939.

I just google imaged and the 1987 Cutlass is first year with replaceable headlights bulbs as you say.

While its been a long time, and I dont have any pics, but I do recall, or seem to recall my 84 having a window brake light, now , dont take that as me disagreeing with you.

'86 was when the 3rd brake lights appeared in US cars by law, but some people added them to older cars.

Right, I understand that, I was just saying I believe mine had one, but who knows if I am telling the truth,  I can barely remember last month, let alone, 1998/99

At the NNL Nats earlier today, Dean Milano displayed what he called 1 of 4 existing assembled test shots of a Revell "1987 Cutlass Supreme".  Dean worked at Revell from roughly 2002 to 2005, according to a senior Revell excec, which might give a timetable for when this tool would have been created.  As to how it relates, if at all, to the future Olds G-Body kits rumored above in this thread, I have no idea.

Here's one picture from the NNL Nats today,DSC 0287..

..there are five more pictures from several other angles at this link   Cheers...TIM

Hey Tim,

It seems we missed each other at Toledo yesterday

A few corrections, Dean was employed by Revell-Monogram from '93 until '05.

Also the Cutlass you see here, will never go into production, because it never was up to model kit standards to begin with, IIRC it was supposed to be an entry level diecast kit.

Dean has done some major surgery to make that one stock.

So the "rumored' all new kit will be from ALL NEW tooling

Luc...I am SO bummed we missed each other yesterday.  AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Thanks for filling in the blanks on the Olds G-Body...it seemed to me that Dean had worked for Revell longer than that, but I thought a Revell source was a better reference than my own memory.  Or maybe I heard the info incorrectly.

Guess we will find out - maybe -  on the final disposition of the subject of this thread (based on info here and other rumors I've heard - but notably, none from direct Revell sources), early next year.

Best...TIM
