Made it to CKM show in Clemmons, NC today and picked up some resin from Bandit Resins and a VCG engine.

Now I have to decide if I want to take that '79 Malibu from Bandit and go Pro Tour, street custom or sleeper. Depending on what I do, that LS7 from VCG could end up under the hood!

There's a new overpass being built over some railroad tracks on one of my possible routes to work and a couple weeks back the future eastbound lanes have been opened to east/west traffic and even though the speed limit is reduced to 35mph, traffic flow is already much better than it had been when the old westbound lanes had been used for for traffic flow, even when you caught the green light and missed the trains and were aboe to maintain 45mph?! Does seem odd to be that far up though, usually only airplanes flying into the nearby airport and birds got that view!

I'm pleased by the fact that this old backhoe is not only up and running, but all of the attachments work just fine... all this after the thing sat outside for over thirty years. And only a couple hundred bucks have been sunk into the thing at this point- mostly on hydraulic hoses. It'll need tires fairly soon, but overally, quite happy now.

In case you're wondering, it's a 1949 Minneapolis-Moline RTI with a Lull loader and Sherman backhoe.

Where's that Joe? Out on 64?

Nope, 64 is now done and 3 lanes each way from Charlestown east, it beautiful, also think it's why West Chicago is replacing their Crown Vics with those new Holden Caprices. The overpass is going in at Rt38 and Kautz Rd at the old CNW, now UP tracks!

Chuck, is that thing yours?

Yeah Chuck, is it? Cool tool. I have absolutely no need for one, but I WANT ONE! Especially intriguing that it's OLD, and has been sitting unloved for 30 years and is back in operation. Too cool.

Yep, that's mine. So far the thing has done nothing but amaze me. After sitting dormant for so long I was stunned by how little work was needed to get it back up to operating condition. Take a brand new backhoe and leave it out in the elements for a year, and the electronics will have been chewed up by mice and the engine will be seized. Not so on an old girl like this one.

First day at a new gig today...quiet office, low key..no drama, good rate. Have a parking garage. And I like how they recommend people work 4 9s and only a 4hr day on Fridays. I'm down with that. Nice location in downtown Scottsdale w/ lots of lunch places in walking distance.

Funny thing is I worked in the same building at another client 3 years ago, but I was 2 stories underground then, on the top floor now.

My cat has recovered enough from the massive infection and surgery to get up on her hind legs to beg for food samples again. Though she still looks like Frankencat and probably will for months to come, it's good to see my old friend having an interest in life.

What pleased me? The right front strut on my Caravan collapsed! Bottom piece broke / rotted and the strut came right down through the spring.

Why am I pleased? Because it happened right at the base of my driveway, pulling in from work last evening. And 5 minutes before that I was going 80 on the turnpike!

Caravan has 193,000 on it, original struts. Bound to happen, probably should've replaced them a long time ago, but they weren't causing any issues.

So I called AAA for my free tow and off it went to my favorite shop. Told him to take his time, Should have it back by Saturday. I don't have to be anywhere until Tuesday :D

That's funny Tom, as I've never had a broken down vehicle please me. So when your vehicle is in good shape and runnnin' well, you're irked?

I don't know, 193k before any kind of failure in an enviroment that isn't any better than ours is pretty good, especially if his van weighs as much as my Folk's Town & Country does.

Funny thing, now that I think about it. This is probably the first time it's been towed. I did buy it new in 1996. In all fairness, I did have to put a transmission in it at 140,000 but I limped into the garage with that one.

What pleased me today was having my grandson's very first birthday party at our house. It was a lot of work for my better half & I, and we had a "full house" as well, but it was very rewarding to see our grandson have a face full of cake. LOL!
