I added a little colour to my Power Wagon, now the graphics have a bit of that retro 70s look to them.

I kinda like that. At least all the parts look like they go to the same truck.   :D

That's awesome. I see overland expedition vehicle written all over that. I like your thought of switching to steelies. Keep them white though!

As for me, the Power Wagon doesn't need any suspension mods. For what I do, the stock setup works just fine. It's already 2" inches taller than the standard 3/4 ton, with factory Duratracs. With the lockers and swaybar discos, this thing can do way more than I'd ever push it!

I'm still looking for the perfect project toy. Not sure what direction I'll be going. When the right one comes along, I'll know it. :)

Since I know everyone was sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for an update. All that is left to do for "Phase-1" is to get the gutters put on. Then start saving so I can get the electric service put in (transformer is several hundred feet away).

...wether you like trucks like this or hate them, there fun as heck and pretty much un-stoppable. I don't rag on lo-riders or classics or imports or whatever, don't know why there is the need to always slag lifted trucks. there not cheap to build run own, takes a commitment to drop 4-5 grand on just a set of tires....

I love this thing, but the main reason is that you USE it. We've seen the shots of her in the never-never. What I have no use for is the urban cowboys who never get dust on the Armor All on the tires.

Same reason I have no use for the guys in Porsches and Ferraris cruising around in first or second gear. Take the damm thing to a track day, or a slalom, or up the winding mountain-back-roads...fine...that's what it's for. But most of the ones I know live in air-conditioned luxury and rarely get driven over 50 MPH. if they get driven at all. Somehow, I don't think those are happy machines.

Life's too full of opportunity to do real stuff  to settle for being a poseur.   B)

that's a very sweet shop you built Michael, whatcha going to put in it?

It is 30' deep, enough room to work on my cars without being pushed right up against the tool boxes.

My dream is to one day have a shop like that. My problem is I am an unofficial  hoarder and no matter how large the space I will find a way to fill it.

That's deep enough to fit my Geo Tracker and PT Cruiser convertible end to end!

I have a severe garage envy.

That's its warming up a bit. Heat pump went out last Thursday. Service guy checked it and no refrigerant in it. So needs to come back Tuesday, pressurized the system, wait for a couple of days and see which segment looses pressure. So will probably be next Thursday at the earliest to be back in operation with having to write a big check. Had to break down and go to WalMart (which I don't like) to get a portable heater. But still have a pretty much paid off roof over my head, plenty to eat and a good car, which means I'm doing better then probably 90% of the world's population. Not even counting the 3 well fed cats and too many models, books and magazines. Think I'll get the camera and head down to the Salt River Riparian Area.

On New Years Eve, it was -37 plus windchill. So it felt like -48.

Today, driving into work, it's -1.

You have to love flip flopping weather.

I just wish we had some snow. Having said that, the Christmas season is done, so bring on summer!

Dan, I'd be happy to box some up and send it to you. We have enough and more is coming down.

Those of us living in the "sunny South" have no concept of living in temperatures like you mention all winter long.

Seriously, the insulation in my current domicile is so poor (excelsior in the walls, if you can believe that...in a house that was originally built as a railroad crew bunkhouse back in the days of steam), that I wouldn't be able to maintain a livable indoor temperature.

When it's in the 20s (F) outside, it's a struggle to maintain 60F indoors here.

7F outside right now, going to be a high of 14 today after a low of zero last night.  But it's sunny and snow on the ground (looking out at my patio and back yard).   Having lived in S. Florida, NE Ohio, SE Michigan, Colorado's Front Range and Phoenix, I've found something interesting about each climate, they all have had their pros and cons...

If it helps, -37 celcius is about -34 farenheit. A -48 celcius windchill will be about -54 farenheit!

To be fair, the last couple of winters have been really mild. It didn't break -20 (-4 F) at all, and we've had vbery little snow.

And this winter, we've had very little snow, and only a week of really cold temps.

For those unaccustomed to these temps, it would definitely be a shock. I remember a trip I took to Birmingham a few years ago when I was with Porsche. I left -40 weather and landed in Birmingham in 0 degree weather. I thought it was great but those from Texas, Arizona, and Florida were freaking out over how cold it was.

At least it's a dry cold here, Dan :P

Very pleasing to see blue sunny sky and thirty degree temps after over a week of -30 chill. Lotsa black ice out there though.

Finally got some snow today! It's not the 15cm that was being called for, but we got snow. First snow since early November. ANd it's cold and windy.

So of course, now that it looks like winter, I took the plow truck I had built back in September and parked it in the prime display location, in hopes that we might get someone interested.

Lo and behold, two walk in clients today on that truck.

So today, winter does not bother me at all. :)

Good for you Dan.  I guess you never know when an opportunity will present itself.
