Had a great lunch. My sister cooked black eyed peas for good luck for year.  My niece, her husband and their 1 year old came plus several other friends for a total of 12.  Great food and conversation.

I always remember it being hog jowel and black eyed peas for good luck.  Had a relaxing cloudy New Year's Day watched Season 7 of the Game of Thrones...

Congratulations Nick.  Be happy if you get MCM #206 that was promised in September.

Thanks Jim, as I am happy and have learned to count my blessings which are many.

Well, it wasn't today, but on Friday my baby girl graduated from Navy boot camp!  She is in the center of the picture, think that's the Oregon flag she's holding.  The weather was better in Chicago than Arizona, family got along better than ever.  The trip started out bad, the freeway was closed due to a fatality accident, but I was able to use a cross-over and go back to an interchange, that took a remote dirt road around it.  Think this post should satisfy my "pleased me" for a few months.  :D

Checking out Scottsdale Barrett Jackson, on Motor Trend TV.Thats the name of the channel now.Ah,nothing else on.

I have been watching that also. The thing that I'm noticing is that some of the prices on certain cars are much higher than Mecum and others are about the same. Some just seem to defy reason. Now if I could just win the Mega Million I could catch a flight in the morning.

We do guys push the cars?  Don't they run?

There are several reasons, some having to do with safety, engine noise picked up by the Mic. and if you ever attend one of these auctions you would not believe the Carbon Monoxide levels. Your headache is worse than any hangover ever and your eyes are watering. A tip that seems to work for me is to stay on the ground floor as all the gasses seem to raise to the roof.

That makes sense.  Thank you.  I've never attended and probably never will.

That does make sense.I was thinking about that too. They do drive the cars up on the block,I think, then quickly turn them off. Then push them to the area off stage once they are sold,or about to sell. Then It looks like they start the car,and very quickly drive it out of the tent.I like Mecum too,but there are way too many cars with reserves, unlike Barrett Jackson.Barrett does have a few incredible cars with a reserve, but it's pretty rare.I know some guys get annoyed by the high prices of some of the cars..I just enjoy seeing the different cars that both Barrett and Mecum have up for auction.Maybe one day,I'll buy one.

I have attended the Mecum Auctions here in Kansas City several times and even sold my '95 Chevy pickup their in 2010. If nothing else it's an inexpensive car show as you can roam the display area and inspect the cars and trucks even if you're not a buyer. It is a fast paced auction and you'll see people paying stupid money for some cars and stealing others.
