More time for model cars, telescopes, astronomy, scuba diving, surfing, and grandson. Oh yeah, and helping around the house. Congratulations Dave! Sounds like you have plenty of hobbies!

Going to be some serious skull sweat for a few weeks. Thanks to everybody who sent prayers. I am glad for you friend! 1
iamsuperdan Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I'm going to call this a good thing. Was a little warm when I got in the car yesterday to head home. That's about 107.5 F. Had been parked in the sun for about an hour. Actual temp was 29 C. Spring weather is unusually warm here for this time of year. And we'll take it.
Calb56 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I received this screen shot from my son (Marshall). He went to help someone he didn't know, spent two nights getting his truck running for him. The guy's down on his luck financially and so his wife is going to cook some Filipino food for him in payment. I'm grateful my son is a much better person than I am. 4

Your model will be no worse when you take it off the table than when you placed it on the table. I was trying to place this as a regular quote on my posts. Saved it as an answer by mistake. ModWrench Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Hung a new body on my buddies race car last weekend. We took it out today for a test and tune session at the track we run at weekly. Solved a small fuel leak issue in our first session, then chased a few electrical gremlins and finally got a clean run and put some practice laps in the book. Solid run on old tires, no damage and put it back on the trailer in one piece. Overall a good day! Now need to find about 4/10th's a lap to run with the top guys in our division. 5
Snake45 Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 This is me today. Do I LOOK pleased? (Hint: One year ago today I was in hospital recovering from a stroke and heart valve replacement surgery.) ? 11

Fine airplane, very tough, very strong. Are you taking instruction, or just a ride? Either way, pretty cool. Edited May 7, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Honestly, I've been kinda lax about exercising since Christmas. Just didn't really feel like it, but the creeping lard-alarm got my lazy tail dragged out to the woods. Nice 2-hour hike I could do in 1.5 hours last year, but I finished without having to call for dustoff. Man...you really go to jell quick when you're an old fart. Gots to keep up with it.

Bugatti Fan Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) Watched the Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle on TV last night. Brilliant show! A blend of top pop artistes, classical and contemporary ballet, acting and music, and orchestral backing by the Royal Corps of Music. Nice to see UK military musicians work a show like this instead of well known symphony orchestras. Edited May 8, 2023 by Bugatti Fan
Joe Handley Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Ended up taking a sick day and going to the urgent care today due to at least allergies and maybe a sinus infection that just got too bad and had to get on a scale to get weighed as part of taking vitals. Turns out I’m down 103lbs from my heaviest………guess I’ve managed to lose the equivalent of a small adult! 1

Felt like being strapped into a race car but it handled and felt like a Cadillac. I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems like a sweet ride. Just a ride with mini-lesson. Even going just to the solo point would cost WAY more money than I have to spend on such an endeavor. But that's okay, I'm fine with what happened. Man, ain't that the truth! I've noticed lately that it's getting hard to get up from the chair, and I find walking boring, so that's why I decided to drag out that old "barn find" '74 Sting Ray bike I sent you the pics of and light 'er up. The tires hold air and I duck-taped the seat into usability so I've been riding it. I live at the bottom of a little hill. The other day it took just about everything I had to get to the top of that hill, and in low gear, no less! Did it again today and it was about the same. The plan is to keep doing it every day until it's not that bad, and then ride it all the way around the block, and then down to the Post Office every day (about a half mile each way). Hope to be there in a couple weeks or so. And THEN I'll dig out my REAL bike (a 10-speed mountain bike) and start doing it for real. Hey, baby steps, right? 1

Yup every journey begins with the first step. And the journey is just a chain of steps. Keep up the good work. 1

Thanks! Oh, I forgot to mention, the weight limit for the glider ride was 245 pounds. One year ago, before my stroke, I'm not sure I'd have made it, especially with clothes, shoes, and full pockets. Last Thursday in my doctor's office, with clothes and shoes (but empty pockets) I went 200 exactly. 1
