It has been too many years since my brief time in the U.K. I needed a brief diversion from reality (bad family news yesterday). Safety inspections and emission checks depend on the state and city you live in. KS does not have any. But Pennsylvania is pretty strict on the safety inspections. Emissions inspections are more common in heavily populated areas. Another Kansas bonus, no front license plate required. With the design of most modern vehicle a front plate just looks out of place and is a draw back to the appearance.

I accidently rubbed my eye after cleaning jalapenos, Carolina Reapers, and ghost peppers. so I could dry them. I didn't think I had gotten the pepper juice on my fore arm. So tell me more. Will milk really put out the fire if you get hot pepper juice in your eye?
meechum68 Posted Friday at 02:07 AM Posted Friday at 02:07 AM Well aside from my daily view of my small flock of hummingbirds, my new director told me the other new guy, we will not be rushed through onboarding, and will make sure we are ready before feeding us to the sharks. I really appreciated that honesty and it was a confidence booster, and he is very good at his teaching.
rattle can man Posted Friday at 03:40 AM Posted Friday at 03:40 AM I placed paper towel soaked in milk over it for 5 minutes and it worked. Milk fat binds to the capsaicin. 2 2
John M. Posted Friday at 02:45 PM Posted Friday at 02:45 PM I just got in from the local Toyota dealer and it rectified the problems for the front passenger airbag in my 08 Corolla that I got the recall on. If I hadn't, the airbag would have deployed without warning at anytime and the passenger could have been hurt. I didn't want that on my conscience. No charge to me and now, it's all good. 2
Russell C Posted Sunday at 03:29 AM Posted Sunday at 03:29 AM Referencing back to my Aug 6 parts pile for my daily driver '86 VW GTI, my super backlogged mechanic specializing in Audis & older watercooled VWs finally had an open slot today - works by appointment Saturdays which I hadn't caught before. Gas leak in the OEM plastic fuel pump swirltank housing had gotten way bigger from my last weekly drive to the grocery store, so I was pleased as punch today that he got that fixed with the all-metal aftermarket replacement housing, and also had the time to do the radiator swap with all the new hoses put in. No more gas or coolant leaks! 5
Ace-Garageguy Posted yesterday at 06:28 AM Posted yesterday at 06:28 AM All 16 valve seats in the Neon head lapped in beautifully, as did the 8 old original intake valves, but the exhaust valves were just too pitted to clean up without grinding. I moved my valve grinder to AZ in 2021, but I was able to locally source new exhaust valves wearing the Melling brand locally for $25 each. Hopefully they're not rebranded off-spec offshore garbage, because exhaust valves lead a very hard life. Anyway, I'm one big step closer to having the Neon back among the living. 4
TonyK Posted yesterday at 12:12 PM Posted yesterday at 12:12 PM Wow, can't remember the last time I saw a Neon on the road.

They got so cheap, most of them got driven to death by bottom-feeders when the cam belts didn't get replaced. Most of the survivors have the 230hp turbocharged DOHC 2.4 liter SRT-4 option package, because enthusiasts understand and appreciate how good they are...but most of those got destroyed by morons because they were cheap and fast. EDIT: My car is the much less desirable SOHC 2 liter 130 HP version, clean, well optioned, with an automatic. Not fast, but handles and rides very nicely, is comfortable on a long trip, has a huge trunk, a decent drag coefficient (.34), and gets well over 30mpg. Just a nice inexpensive little car, and I really like its looks. Edited 16 hours ago by Ace-Garageguy 2
