I am pleased to have survived a few of the worst days and have been a part of some of the best of days. I am grateful for what I have been given and glad to have not received what I deserve...

Still enjoy going shopping with my wife. I push the cart and arrange the stuff in the cart, so nothing get crushed or damaged. She'll ask me sometimes if an item is something I would or wouldn't like. I load everything in the trunk and driver her wherever else she is wanting to go and do. The main thing is we're hanging out together talking about this or that and just enjoy being with each other. Got home and she made me my favorite Chocolat Chip cookies with Pecans ground up in them.

The deer have to be very enjoyable to watch. I have squirrels. They even come up to the door and scratch or peck at the door for me to come out and feed them. Drives the dogs nuts when they do that.

Purely selfish but since there is crew on board preparing for the boats departure next week i haven't needed to buy food as we're being cooked for. I have been helping the cook by letting her leave earlier and doing the heating up at meal times. The crew seem like a good group of folk too so its a pretty good week for me. they even know how to lift a toilet seat so I've put them back on, lol

About 20 or so years ago I got a letter in the mail talking about how if you bought a CRT monitor between a certain time period you would be reimbursed for a price fixing scheme perpetrated by the CRT manufacturers. I checked it out and it was legit so I said Yea, I'm in. Every few years I would get a letter saying ' We're working on it' and I'd throw it in the garbage. The last one I received was like 9 months ago. Well a few days before Xmas I got this in the mail..... They came through, Imagine That!

Well technically this didn’t happen to me,but it did make me laugh..My niece is currently in Florida with some friends while on Xmas break. They decided to take a walk down by the beach in Miami. When all of a sudden they saw a guy walking with an elderly woman, who looked a lot like Adam Sandler. Then as they got closer to him, they quickly realized that in fact it was Adam Sandler. The three of them wanted to talk to him,but didn’t want to annoy him.But then one of my niece’s friend decided to just walk over and started talking to him. After that, they walked over to him,and began to talk to him.My niece said he was really nice, and even asked the girls if they wanted to take a selfie with him, which of course they replied yes.So then my niece took the selfie, with her friends, and Adam Sandler..Afterwards they thought, what were the chances of bumping into him on some street in Miami..And the elderly woman was Adam Sandler’s mother.

Pleased me last night was Seattle Kraken beating the Boston Bruins at home 3-0. What a great game to watch. I've hated the Bruins since the late 60's.

Watch what you wish for with squirrels. They are very athletic and capable of moving thru the trees in a way that would make monkeys envious. At our former home we had several mature trees in the back yard and after a few years a brown squirrel and a gray squirrel appeared in our yard. They were constantly raiding the bird feeders and running the birds off. They used to like to jump on the roof of the house and run around. The sound didn't bother me so much since I realized what it was from, my fear was that they were trying to get into the attic and a neighbor had a lot of electrical damage when a family of squirrels made a nest in their attic one winter. We used to call them "Tree Rats".

Tree rats,?,that’s a great name for them.Yea i’ve had my share of them running all over my roof.I didn’t mind it too much until they started doing it in the middle of the night. At least I think they were squirrels.I guess they were trying to get into the attic as well. They never were able to get in.However I recall one time, when a pretty large squirrel fell down our fire place, and hit the vent,or whatever you call it,and got into our house..My sister, brother, and myself were the only ones home. The squirrel then began to run all around the house, until we cornered it in our den. After which we called an exterminator who came and chased the little sucker out the back door.Oh and I call Seagulls, and pigeons flying rats.

I snapped a metal stove pipe around the post of the bird feeder and the squirrels ? ate on the ground with the birds..

A great feeling indeed!  Enjoy every one you can as you never know when life will change. My long time (though not nearly long enough) bride is entering a stage in her life where she is losing her memory. Some days are harder than others so we make the most out of the good days when we can. Enjoy the days with your wife.

If something was running around on your roof at night, it wasn't squirrels. Rats, cats, raccoons...but squirrels go sleepybye at dusk.

Far as critters in the house go...I put a cat door in the basement of my last house. One morning about 2 AM, the cat jumped on the bed to wake me up. It seemed pretty obvious she wanted me to follow her, kinda like a feline Lassie, so out to the front of the house we went. Three juvenile racoons digging in the trash in the kitchen. The cat sat down and looked at me like "they're not MY friends".

I propped open the front screen door and chased two of them out with a broom, but one ran the other way, to the back of the house. Try as I might I couldn't get it to go out the door. I finally cornered it in the bathroom, and shut it in.

I went and got my fire tongs, then caught the thing by the neck, and dragged it out the front door. Needless to say, the cat door stayed locked after that.

Where we used to live, near Sacramento, the area was at one time grazing land and had recently become new home development. What happens is the building starts to displace the natural wildlife including those wonderful little critters, the Racoons. Our neighbor across the street backed up to a little creek that ran behind his property. Sort of a Racoon paradise of sorts. They had a small dog and had put a doggy door for him to use the back yard or hang out in the garage depending on weather while they were both at work. They go away for a week somewhere and board their dog but forget to lock the doggy door. Well, the Racoons got into the garage and had almost gotten through the door to the inside by the time they got home. The inside of their garage looked just like the scene from the old homeowner's insurance TV ad.
