Dave Metzner Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Latest news regarding the Moebius 1961 Pontiac Ventura kit is that tooling is underway and 1st test shots are expected to be sent in the next 3 weeks or so. Once first test shots are here I'll have a better idea regarding the production schedule. IF test shots don't require major corrections - First Pontiac kits could be here by December.
John Goschke Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Oh, baby! Really looking forward to this one, Dave!
Joe Handley Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Good to hear Dave, have a customer at work waiting patiently for that one!
unclescott58 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Love the '61 Pontiac Ventura. Can't wait. Scott
Danno Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Oh, what a beauty! REALLY looking forward to this one! Thanks, Dave, for all you and the Moebius Mob do for the hobby!
W-409 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Indeed a very good news. I'm not sure which one do I want the most... The Pickups, this, the Comet or the Satellite. All of them are very interesting subjects that I have wanted to build for a long time, and finally someone is making kits out of them. This Pontiac will be a great starting point for a Junior Stocker, and it might be that I need to get another one built as a Street Car too. I can't wait for this one!
BrianC Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Of all the new releases by Mobius, (and they are all good) I am looking forward to this one the most! What an elegant motor car! Thanks for the updates.

Danno Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 X2! NHP actually used these. They were blue with silver roofs and doors. G The 'bubbletop' Ventura? Wow. Now I've gotta get a couple more!
ToyLvr Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 X2! NHP actually used these. They were blue with silver roofs and doors. G X3
peekay Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Very much looking forward to one of my favourite Pontiacs. (And thanks for those pics, John - inspiration indeed!)
Agent G Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) The 'bubbletop' Ventura? Wow. Now I've gotta get a couple more! Yes they did! Most went north where the sun wasn't in such abundance, thus turning the trooper into a baked potato. I have seen old photos of these down in my neck of the woods too. Robberbaron Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Dave, glad to hear that the new automotive subjects seem to be progressing well. Thanks again for sharing your "insider information" with us!
MrObsessive Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 More inspiration!.... I'm absolutely in love with this one! That color is fantastic, and just the shade of blue that I want to paint mine someday!
Guest Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I'm absolutely in love with this one! That color is fantastic, and just the shade of blue that I want to paint mine someday! Same here.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I'm absolutely in love with this one! That color is fantastic, and just the shade of blue that I want to paint mine someday! Same here. X3. Good Lord, that car is so gorgeous. There were some good-looking '61 - '64 GM full-sizes, but that '61 Poncho is the one that really had everything dialed in, imho.
MrObsessive Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 GM did some really neat things with their '61 offerings. While fins were on their way out (as opposed to those crazy '59's), they still managed to captured the essence of fins without going totally out of their minds. There's everything to like about this car------thin pillared "bubbletop" roofline, neatly blended in tailfins, nice sweeping windshield without that knee-knocking dogleg, etc. Too bad GM today follows a somewhat "me too" styling philosophy. Back then, they were on top of the world with styling and the world knew it.
