Exotics_Builder Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I cannot yet reveal Revell 1st Quarter 2015 offerings, but here is AMT info:
Dave Van Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) A few cool things.....I will be more happy when the model car side gets some new tooling. The Sci Fi guys have gotten a few.....and I do not count the snap Duke's kit as a new tool rather a replacement of a worn out one. MANY THANKS for the info Gerry!!!!! An ETA of when Revell will allow you to spill the beans??? From what I understand they will not be set up at Ohio NNL this year... Edited October 2, 2014 by Dave Van
Matt Bacon Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Where's the "Piranha Spy car" from, then? And that 1/125 scale "Blue Devil Destroyer" must be pretty sizeable, eh? I'll have to lay in a Space:1999 Eagle Transporter as well... bestest, M.
Exotics_Builder Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 An ETA of when Revell will allow you to spill the beans??? From what I understand they will not be set up at Ohio NNL this year... Probably within the next two weeks, hopefully sooner than later. MCM scored photos of test shot/box art model of the most significant 1st Quarter offering. As you are aware, we MUST RESPECT confidences when we interact with vendors. Where's the "Piranha Spy car" from, then? And that 1/125 scale "Blue Devil Destroyer" must be pretty sizeable, eh? Mr mopar Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Wow one Big Rigs but no Show cars......................I can save my $$$$$$ Edited October 2, 2014 by Mr mopar
jbwelda Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 does that Piranha have anything to do with the Piranha race car that I think AMT put out at one time? and that 32 Victoria, not from the old double kit with the Willys by any chance? anyone know the lineage of the kit? another question and I think I may have seen an answer here before, but are the 69 Corvair street car and the funny car essentially the same body? other parts in common? maybe they should have broke some new ground by putting both in the same kit along with a race team trailer...I guess a Vair pulling a trailer just wouldn't be too realistic though. don't see much else there I am interested in, aside from the Vair and maybe the 53 ford truck. good to see an active release schedule though. jb
Rob Hall Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 It's been a while since the 32 Victoria has been reissued. Nice to see the 69 Cougar back again.
kelson Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I'm in on the 2010 Pace car,the 70 AMX and the 72 'blazer.
jefropas Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 If I go on Saturday, will Revell have their new 2015 stuff at their booth? Jeff

And yes...I know that fine line you walk. I've worked on some projects, some that never made it to production, that maybe someday will make a book....when I am REAL old!!! Thanks for keeping us informed.
Exotics_Builder Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 If I go on Saturday, will Revell have their new 2015 stuff at their booth? Jeff Revell is NOT at IHOBBY. Model Cars Magazine (meaning me in this case) interviewed them at their HQ last week.

Also, AMT set up a separate division (located in Phoenix) and originally planned to produce the Piranha for sale as a real car. Or so several stories from the era stated. The Vicky kit shown was the first commercial release (in 1963) of the AMT '32 Vicky kit that has been available in various guises ever since. To get this version, Round 2 will have to backdate the kit to the original side headers, 6x2 carb setup, and other pieces. It was sold as a "Trophy Series 3 in 1" kit with restored stock, street rod, and drag versions. A very, very nice kit that had a far more detailed 1932 Ford frame than the earlier Roadster, Sports Roadster, and Five Window Coupe Trophy Series kits. It was also sold through Ford dealers and other Ford promotional venues in a different box art, which may have preceded (slightly) the retail availability timing window. It has no direct link to the '32 Ford Custom in the old '32 Ford/'40 Willys Double kit, other than that the Double Kit instructions aluded to swapping the Tudor body with the Vicky body in a kitbashing project IIRC. The Corvair funny car was addressed in other threads, but it is basically the original AMT Barracuda Mid Engine Funny Car kit with the '69 Corvair body, a front spoiler, and a few ancillary pieces to adapt that body to the FC frame. Best...TIM
Porscheman Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I see they're finally bringing out redline tires in their parts packs
Exotics_Builder Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I see they're finally bringing out redline tires in their parts packs Expect more parts pack goodies next year!
DaveM Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I am in for a few of these. I will grab a Blazer, '37 Chevy, Vicky and a couple of the Macks. I will probably also grab a set or two of the redlines. Hopefully, AMT will put some upgraded parts in these kits too. (Anything upgraded with clear headlights will go straight to the top of my "buy" list.) Tim, thanks for clearing up the history of the Vicky kit. This is the one I want to get to kitbash with my older AMT kits.
jefropas Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Too bad Revell's not there, esp. with Schaumburg being a stones throw from Elk Grove....I'm debating even going...thanks for the info. Jeff
Greg Myers Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 "Red Line TIRES" looks like a box of chrome stuff.
ChrisBcritter Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) And that 1/125 scale "Blue Devil Destroyer" must be pretty sizeable, eh? bestest, M. Yep - As I recall it was about three feet long. I got one 35 years ago for my Pearl Harbor home movie project but never built it. I just may get the Blazer and the '37 Chevy; maybe even the Corvair. Fun fact re the '37 Chevy: the AMT '49 Mercury's flathead V-8 is a perfect drop-in fit if you want to surprise a few Stovebolt fans. Edited October 3, 2014 by ChrisBcritter
mnwildpunk Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 maybe they should have broke some new ground by putting both in the same kit along with a race team trailer...I guess a Vair pulling a trailer just wouldn't be too realistic though. unless it was a small boat trailer
Jim_Kampmann Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Check out February of 2015! Nelson Carter's Super Chief Charger Funny Car. That's pretty cool! Jim Kampmann
