TooOld Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) I picked up this 48 year old kit partially built and only missing a couple of parts . After scrounging the missing pieces I cleaned everything as best I could then polished all of the red plastic parts . I assembled it using only the kit parts with no extra or aftermarket parts being used . I did make the header flanges since I thought they looked a little funny without them and I added a Ford script decal to the radiator shell . This is a really nice kit and I'm already collecting parts to build another version ! Edited February 15, 2020 by TooOld

Snake45 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 That looks really nice--a real nostalgia trip. I've never built this kit but I hope to someday sooner or later.
62rebel Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 outstanding! and picture-proof positive that some kits don't need full wiring, etc... they come out RIGHT, right out of the box, when a great builder takes charge.
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Nice job. Sure wish they would restore this back to this version. They would sell like ice on a hot day.
1hobby1 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) beautiful model! Edited October 5, 2014 by 1hobby1
jbwelda Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 beautiful! I always wanted to build one up as a "Little Drag" since they give you the turtledeck in there. excellent build...do you have a built Big T to display it next to? jb
Brianl Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 This is the kit that got me hooked on Hot Rods when I built it back in the early '60's. Mine was light blue with the turtle deck which explains why every T I have built since has a turtle deck. I loved it. Beautiful build mate. The effort in making it original is appreciated. Now.... where can I get one? Brian
peekay Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Wonderful! Always loved this kit and that's how it should look.
deuces wild Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Very kool!!! This build makes me want to break out my vintage big T kit from '62... Hope the decals are still good...
TooOld Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks very much everybody ! Being an original 60's era kit I wanted to skip all of the wiring and plumbing that I normally add to my builds and I think this one looks just right without it . I coated the old decals with some Decal Bonder and they went okay . The only issue was that they had to soak for about 5 minutes before they would release from the paper ! And no , I don't have a Big T to display it with . No place to put it if I did !
unclescott58 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Very nice job on an old classic kit. Very kool. Scott
rmvw guy Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Totally awesome, I love it in every way possible. I also picked one up a while back, missing windshield frame and decals. I plan on displaying mine next to the 1/8 scale version I am working on. This is one of my favorites. I will make room for two 1/8 scale models, the Big T and the Big Deuce.
Skip Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Nice work! Even better building period correct stock. Hard to resist building something without modifying it just a little bit. I think this is also the first one I've seen built as a Bobtail version looks good too! The other thing I like is that you polished out the Red Plastic, a whole lot of them were built this way, I remember seeing something about using "toothpaste" to polish out the plastic to look like paint, might have even been in the instructions. Little T was one of Monogram's best Hot Rods they got it spot on without being overly fiddly with the pose-able steering. Brings back a lot of memories, I built several when I was a kid, wish that this one would be re-released in its stock form with all the possible variations, Bobtail, Turtle Deck, Pick Up. When I see this kit now, I see an easy way to build a reasonable copy of T.V. Tommy Ivo's T-Bucket, drop in a Nailhead and you're almost there.
