Snake45 Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Got a CD I ordered from Amazon almost 2 months ago (!). It's a semi-bootleg of Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon in the Netherlands in 1976. This was when Browne was helping Zevon get started; Zevon had put out his first, little-heard album and his breakout Excitable Boy was still almost 2 years away. The CD includes what must have been very early versions of "Excitable Boy" and "Werewolves of London" from Excitable Boy (1978). I'm not a huge Jackson Browne fan but I like his version of "For a Dancer" on this. Also, after Zevon's untimely death, Browne and Bonnie Raitt recorded what is IMHO the very best version ever of Zevon's "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" for the tribute album Enjoy Every Sandwich.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Got a new pair of Belleville 320 One Xero Ultra Lite "Assault" Boots. These are hot-weather military style boots. Light, well built, ventilated, and comfortable. Good fit right out of the box, no break-in required (for me, anyway), supportive, and high enough to give protection from cactus and critters while hiking in the desert. I recently got back here after running my first 26' truckload out to the new place out West, and tried the boots for a hike up ol' Kennesaw Mountain. I'm very pleased.
cobraman Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Cool boots. Snake bite proof ? Look tall enough. So your in the moving process ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 43 minutes ago, cobraman said: ... So your in the moving process ? Yup. Ran the first big truckload the middle of June. Lots of I-40 was in much worse shape than back in 2011 when I drove out last time, but only in some states. And lotsa construction delays. Hammered the holy bejiminy out of the truck. So much for "infrastructure". Still, only one small thing actually got broken, and that was really my fault. Got there during the heat-wave, unloaded the truck in 115 deg. weather, lost 2 more pounds in the process. The house AC quit, the fridge broke down, and I couldn't get a rental car to get to the airport in Vegas for a week...and they charged an arm and most of one leg when it finally became available. Pretty much clusterpuke SOP when trying to do anything other than sit like a bump these days, but the sunrises, sunsets, low humidity, and the similar life outlooks of my neighbors make it worth the effort. And I came back with a tan. I still have a couple more months of endgame work to finish up here before I can run another load, and start moving the cars.

Rob Hall Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 (edited) Got a good checkup at my ophthalmologist today. A concern last month about possible glaucoma is not an issue after a month of eye drops. Edited July 10, 2021 by Rob Hall
DPNM Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 (edited) I've been buying/selling/trading airbrushes for a long time. I have a small collection of around 40. I've wanted one of these since a friend posted his on another forum I belong to over a year ago. It's made in Germany and they aren't easily available on this side of the pond. I purchased this from a gentleman in Germany who was willing to ship it to me. It is a Gabbert Triplex. It is a bit unusual. The body unscrews just in front of the trigger to change between the three heads. They are all gravity feed. It has three needle/nozzle/needle caps for fine, medium and heavy spraying. It is double action, sort of. The trigger does not depress for air. Air flow starts when you begin to pull the trigger back. Pulled back a little farther the fluid begins to flow. I posted this one here as I plan to use it for spraying T-Shirts and the like using water base paint. I have other American and Japanese brands I will use on models with lacquer based paint. Snake45 Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Here's my newest toy: Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911A1 CO2/BB airgun! The thing looks and feels so "real" it's amazing and is an absolute HOOT to shoot! The slide actually recoils with every shot. I can shoot it in the basement for about 1c a shot--way better than the cost of real ammo these days. (This was the item I was talking about being so glad finally finding in the What Pleased You Today thread.) Here it is with three of my real 1911s. The new airgun is at top right. The gun at bottom right has a .22 conversion top half on it. I've had thousands of rounds of fun with that one, too, back when .22 ammo was @ 2c a shot at Walmart. Now that it's north of 5c a shot if you can find any at all, I think the new airgun will be getting a workout from me.
Hotrod 97 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Yesterday, not today. My Dad and I went to the Carlisle Truck Show yesterday, and we got some stuff for the F150/project truck/I-really-need-a-name-for-that-thing. We found some nice seats. The current ones are so worn and torn that it feels like you're sitting at a 45-degree angle. These seats are from a Dodge Dakota, but they're almost the same dimensions as the stock seats. And, we found a lower-mileage 4.6 from an '03 LTD/Crown Vic. The seller was asking a really decent price for what it was, so naturally we couldn't pass it up.
landman Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 A driver for the tractor, barrels, a winch, a chain saw and a gas pump. Now I have to find decals for the pump.

Tom Geiger Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I saw this box of old postcards up for bid on eBay. Just for fun, I threw in a bid and was surprised when I got it for $100. I was even more surprised when I received the package... I thought it was a shoebox full of cards... but instead it was near 20 pounds and 1000s of cards. It's been so interesting sorting through it all, when I saw same vendor put up another box, I grabbed that one too! Normally when you buy a lot like this, it's already been sorted through for all the good stuff. I was surprised that I found plenty of goodies and the age variety of back to the beginning in 1903 to the chrome card era of the 1970s. Here's some stuff I thought you folks might like to see... Auto manufacturers, these all date from the teens through the 1930s. All marked so I don't have to 'splain! Some Ford related cards... Busses from various eras.. Some cars... check out that Sears Motorcycle, that's at least a $10 card! 1920s and 1930s.. I love the first one! Check out the camper behind the Model T on Daytona Beach... and 1950s... Some Ducks... 1
cobraman Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Those are cool.. On one of those cards ( Teysons Food Gifts ) if I'm not mistaken looks like a Hudson Jet. That would be the first car I can remember my folks having. At first I thought it was a Ford buy a closer look it seemed to small for that.
TonyK Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Those are cool. Quite a variety of pictures and I'll bet you'll have lots of fun sifting thru them.
espo Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Great find on these cards. Interesting to see what things looked like long ago.
cobraman Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Pranko boxes . These are fun . They have several styles and are very well done . I have bought several . It is a phony box that you use to put a real gift in . The look on peoples faces when they unwrap their gifts and see one of these ! 1
Hotrod 97 Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Got some High Density Foam blocks and spray adhesive. My Dad and I are replacing the foam on my "new" seats for the F-150. Since everything else on the truck was a DIY project, we decided to try to replace it ourselves...we'll see how that goes ?

cobraman Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Pranko on line. My photos are front and back of same box.
Hotrod 97 Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 Got some stuff for my full-scale arts-&-crafts project. A wire wheel to scrape foam off of the headliner board, and some new fabric for said headliner.
GLMFAA1 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Just got this gift from my brother's friend whom I built a replica model of his old Chevy pick up. I remember loaning this book from the Library years ago, now I have my own copy. greg

I don't know that book specifically but I have fond memories of of a number of modeling books from the '60s and '70s. My latest acquisition was a book published by or in conjunction with the War Department in WWII showing how to build 1/72 airplane models for military ID training.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Last time I was in AZ I decided to stop by a swap-meet that usually has mostly junk. Found an operating early '50s Thor Model 100 valve grinder, and a late '50s Craftsman radial arm saw, also, oddly, a Model 100. The saw even came with the original manual, a stand-cabinet, lotsa accessories...and a reprint of the valve grinder manual is available (and on the way). Also picked up a gorgeous vintage wood plane, a new-in-box heat gun, several vintage valve spring compressors, and a couple of vintage and functional hand valve-lapping tools. All for less than $200.00.
