Typical the bad behavior of one affects many. Viewers lose the the show and the other hosts and staff get the shaft. On top of it there are other networks fighting to sign up the idiot. Hope that charges are pressed for assault.

Kudos to the BBC for doing the right thing.

He was in the wrong.

The BBC will come crawling back to them eventually...

Unless they still have the name "Top Gear." If they do, Clarkson and crew will find a new name on another network. They'll be back in some guise.

If he spent 20 minutes berating the producer, and punched him, Clarkson has got bigger issues than being suspended. I wonder if Phillipa will worry if his steak isnt exactly right.

When we get a swelled head this is what happens. He(Clarkson) seems to have forgotten that everybody can be replaced. I watched this show on the web one time. It was more stupid drama than car related. All the so called great TV shows stop after a time and they were replaced with the networks still marching on.

Apparantly he had a go at Oisin's Irish background too during his rant.

I'd have punched him straight back. Twice.

He had a show years ago like Parkinson or Leno where he interviewed guest celebs, it was pretty bad and didn't last.

Mind you, he'll keep going, he generates a lot of money.

Sorry to see this happen. Not that I was a huge fan of Clarkson but more that I really enjoyed the three together. They really interacted in such a way as to be very entertaining. Watching Top Gear was a bit like hanging out in the garage with a few good friends and a good beers, except these three were really, really articulate. They came up with ways of saying stuff that was unexpected. Kind of a literate British gutter humor. I am not sure that that interaction can be recreated, though I doubted that Johnny Carson could replace Jack Parr or Jay Leno could replace Johnny Carson, but they did and it worked. What is of course different is that this interplay is with three people. Hard to replicate, witness the disaster that TG America is. It is not about the cars or scenario, but the three people in it and how they fit together. Sorry to see it go but will give it a chance.

I think in some way he got what he wanted to be honest, to be done with the show, its been known that he has been wanting to , or at least been thinking about calling it quits, he has had a lot of stuff going on in his personal life , his mum dying ,going through a divorce, most of the higher ups at the BBC dont like him, and not having a hot dinner after a long day of filming was the final straw for him and he was finally done.

If only he could waited three more weeks.

Sorry to hear his mom passed, their Moms were pretty entertaining to watch when they were on the show!

Yeah, she was the one to turn her blinker on going around a corner! RIP Mrs. Clarkson.

What eveyone forgets is Top Gear has been around for years before Clarkson, I think William Woodard used to present it with Angela Rippon and Noel Edwards.

Mind you it was a bit boring back then. LOL

Yes the very early seasons of old Top Gear is in todays eyes boring. I'm to young to have seen it myself but I started watching Top Gear on BBC World in the mid 90s and back then it was all Jeremy, Quentin and Tiff. I really loved the summer-run series that Clarkson did back then, the Motorworld and Extreme Machines series is still some of my absolute all time favourites.

Here is a clip of the show from Japan

Then there was later on (ca 2000-2001?) his series called Car Years and also Speed and Meets the Neighbours. All very good in my eyes.

A bit boring is a slight under statement, road test done on boring family saloon cars, and things like, "Oh this one is the deluxe version, it has an extra air vent in the dash, and a push button radio" it was enough to put any petrol head to sleep.

Hopefully Clarkson, May & Hammond will take the show to another station , Hammond was brought up just round the corner from where I live,

I'm unsure, a part of me thinks this is simply a publicity stunt for a return TG show generating mega views.

This was not a publicity stunt, the show already had 350million viewers around world, and thats not counting all the people that download the show, they didnt need to pull a stunt to get mega views, they already had them, on top of that, the show made the BBC between 50 and 70 million pounds a year.

Jeremy Clarkson ,James May and Richard Hammond make Top gear what it is. The Idiots at the top will be facing law suits from other countries for not producing the show. The stupid people running top gear probally need to be shot any way. So Kill them and be on with show already. I really hate top brass and their stupid lame ideas. Im really not into violence of any fashion but if we cut their heads off and put their endtrails all over the streets we can get on with the very calm Top Gear Show.

Clarkson had it coming, he thought that whatever he did he was invincible. He's an arrogant nasty piece of work in real life, has no respect for the public, his neighbours are sick of his loud noisy antics and disregard for the rules of the road. He recently rented a Hummer and went into his local High Street just to show off and got it stuck between two road signs in a very narrow road, he did no more than get out and walk away, leaving the whole town centre grid locked. When he was approached by both pedestrians and police alike he just shouted at them to 'F... Off!, very nice in front of children.

If we don't see him on TV again it will be a pleasure! As for his two sidekicks they just follow him around like two lovesick puppies!
