highway
I got a diagnosis of having sleep apnea Thursday morning after doing a sleep study Wednesday night, I got a new CPAP machine that I have to use in both the truck and at home, and at least it is dual powered, it's made to plug into the wall here at home and comes with a cigarette lighter adapter to plug in while I'm in the truck. Sleep apnea is a serious health concern. My father was diagnosed last year and loves his CPAP machine. He is more energetic, in better moods, and gets a full nights sleep every night. After he found a face piece that he liked he says he doesn't even notice it anymore.
disabled modeler
Been buying a few kits lately but two of the ones I've been chasing for awhile and finally got were these two. Brought two of these ones factory sealed. And finally got this one I've been chasing for ages, it was factory sealed to but factory seals don't last long in my house. VERY NICE....! Id like to find those myself had them when I was a kid and loved them.

The70judgeman
Went to Model Empire this morning to buy a Moebius ProStar I saw on the "reduced" rack(had a faded box from storefront display), but of course, my procrastination came into play again. Instead, there was an AMT Transtar 4300 there that I picked up for $22.79...marked down from $30 and change. It's an open box that was taped shut. I got to open the box before purchase to inspect the contents and it was all there still sealed in bags inside. I learned how to drive tractor/trailer in one at my last job(yard truck). Want to try and build it as that truck.
High octane
Sounds like a good deal Terry. I wanted to say hi to you at the meeting after the "table talk" but you had already left. I hope that you'll come back and see us again.

tuffone20
I went to a hobby shop today after they closed to help them with disassembling their old gondolas and assembling new ones because the owner asked for some help on their Facebook page last night and for my 2 1/2 hours of help the owner gave me the new Ford F-350 kit!!! I was the only person that showed up to help him too!! He had showed them to me when I first got there and I told him I thought it was a cool kit, but didn't think I'd get one any time soon. So when I told him I had to leave he walked over to the kits and picked one up and said if I give you this will you build it? I of course said HELL YES I WILL!!!! And then I'm like are you sure you want to give me this? I didn't come here to get paid to help you I did it because I wanted to help you!! He said he was sure and gave it to me!!! slusher
That was nice of you to help and nice of him to give you something. Jonathan built one and is posted in the truck section. It looks great...
checkmate
Hi Rob, I've always been interested in these old MPC Dodge Van kits. It's interesting that they faithfully issued an annual each and every year. And then they issued some customs what appears mid-year. That was the custom van era so I believe they did well with these kits. It's interesting how well they recorded the annual changes too. One time I wanted to build a trailer that would have needed two Dodge van bodies to build. I pulled out my junk box and found that each and every body I had was different. Subtile details like roof ribbing were acurately changed each and every year! So I never built that trailer! Bad story - many years ago a guy in one of my clubs brought in a big box of built custom Dodge vans that he bought at a garage sale. They all showed great imagination and the work was fairly well done, no doubt built by an older teen or adult back in that era. Well, this goob sat at the meeting and was pounding these apart for parts. Seems that he was interested in building limos and wanted the TVs and some other luxury parts that were in these vans. He was literally breaking apart the bodies so nothing was left at all. I was upset that all this history was being lost. Back then I just sat and watched, today I would have restrained the guy! And as all these stories end, he never built a single model. He didn't have any skill level to even try to achieve what he wanted. He eventually wandered away from the club. I am attaching a link to my Fotki album of the Dodge van boxes.. Note that I did steal your "Truckin' USA" photo as it was better than the one I had. Do you know the year of issue? http://public.fotki.com/ModelCitizen/model_cars/dodge_van_kits/ If anyone can add a box, or give a year to the boxes I show without years, I'd appreciate it!Always good to learn more about what van kits they made, the differences I wasn't aware of and the pics you've compiled Tom are useful as I can at least see what was released. I asked the question along time ago on another forum if anyone had ever done a kit history or list of van kits made but got no useful feedback.I was chasing a check list to cross them off as I get them. The story about the guy destroying the built ups is criminal, the only built ups I've bought have been past saving and I got for parts, spares and maybe a 6 wheeler project. The Truckin USA issue was a 1974 release, more than happy for you to use my pic mate. I collect van kits so anyone that needs pics of the box arts, if I've got one I'm happy to share pics if it helps build a complete list. disabled modeler
Tom....Man does your collection of Dodge van kit photos bring back loads of memories for me...I built many of those as a kid. Love to find some of the 71 to 77s they are way under rated and are great kits. I have a couple of sad build ups needing parts but no boxes to share photos of them...very cool. The70judgeman
Got my plans downloaded/printed from the internet and the lumberyard just dropped off my order of lumber needed to build a new garage. OK...I went to Greenfield News & Hobby and bought the basswood "lumber" I need to build a scale garage similar to John Johnston's build in the diorama section. I'm using the same plans, but I'm going to alter them and build a bigger "shop."
Modlbldr
I went to a 1:1 auto swap meet today. I knew someone had to be selling kits and I was right.Prices varied from outrageously high (in my mind) to reasonable. I found two bags with two built kits each. Each had a car that I wanted. One had a 68 Camaro and one had a 63 Vette hardtop. The Camaro interested me because it had the hidden headlights grille and red tinted windows. I haven't seen those options in a kit before. Any idea what kit the Camaro is? Later- Edited May 5, 2014 by Modlbldr
Rob Hall
I would say that is an AMT '67 annual. Looks like it has a custom grille, though. MPC had a '67 annual also, but I don't know if it had that custom grille or raised axle. Edited May 5, 2014 by Rob Hall
Modlbldr
I would say that is a possibility. The funny thing is that in the glass runners from the front to back Windows it says "Camero" molded in it (spelled with an E) I have plans to strip it and rebuild it as a strip burner. I'm missing the front tires and wheels. Later- Edited May 5, 2014 by Modlbldr
niteowl7710
The Merc is from eBay, and I picked up the Shelby Convertible from my work LHS. That's right in the midst of hobby shop closings, I have so many to choose from that I have to dictate where they are based on what I'm doing on any given day...not gloating...no wait I am...NYAH NYAH NYAH DSC01591 (1280x844) by niteowl7710, on Flickr DSC01592 (1280x916) by niteowl7710, on Flickr
