  1. Waves are what you hope nobody makes when you're floating in the pool while holding a vial of nitroglycerine.
  2. Though I complain about unnecessary delays, mis-deliveries, and odd all-over-the-country "logistical" routing, I do have to say most of the local PO folks seem to be competent, some very competent, and the delivery people who were habitually causing problems have apparently either been trained to do their jobs right, or relocated. But poor performance always gets the most attention. For instance, many seem to forget the hundreds of billions of safe passenger-miles Boeing's aircraft have delivered over many decades. However, when a product or service that impacts millions of people on a daily basis begins to noticeably deteriorate, it's not unusual for negative reactions to proliferate...especially in these days of the internet as a publicly available soapbox for the airing of grievances, many of them ignorant and uninformed.
  3. May Day has different connotations to different demographics, with the origins of the celebration dating back centuries in some countries.
  4. Good insurance. Amazing how a little thinking-ahead can prevent a world of hurt.
  5. Really sorry you got hurt, Carl. Take it easy, though I know it can be hard to get comfortable with bruised or cracked ribs. We're all pulling for you to get better ASAP.
  6. Very very nice. You've kept all its "Riviera-ness" and achieved the look of a professionally designed, well-integrated factory styling exercise. Doing such heavy mods to a car as attractive as the Riv usually results in a serious not-improvement, but what you've come up with looks like a slightly smaller, lighter, more nimble take on the Riv theme, and every bit as attractive.
  7. Start taking control of your finances when you're young and you won't have to worry about money when you're my age.
  8. Yacht owners will ultimately be sandwich-spread for the "eat the rich" crowd.
  9. And thanks for mentioning it yet again. I WAS WRONG. I POSTED A SHOT OF A '60 AND NOT A '61, AND MISINTERPRETED THE MOLD LINES AS SEAMS. I AM SO VERY VERY ASHAMED. I'M GOING TO CRY NOW.
  10. Interesting incident a few days back with a controller arguing over the radio with a seasoned instructor pilot about a particular maneuver he did, and she used as her authoritative source "I GOOGLED IT!!!". She was 100% wrong both in what she told him (not being a pilot herself and believing an incorrect source she didn't know enough to ignore) and in the way she handled it.
  11. Fishing for compliments with false modesty isn't a good look for a grown man.
  12. I'd wanted to be able to do some heavy weathering on HO-scale locomotives and rolling stock, to simulate dead-line rescues waiting for rebuild/restoration in a holding yard on my planned layout. I'd also wanted it to be easily reversible, as the cheap broken/bodged/parts-missing "junk" I'll be filling the yard with will be stripped, rebuilt, and upgraded one at a time. After some experimenting, I find this stuff works very well for part of what I have in mind.
