Did you start the motor yet? Putting the barrels on the block is a pain. They want you to cut 3mm tubes to fit between them..but thats too big and it makes the barrells lean over..was a nightmare getting it right..I had to get rid of the tubing and just cement the nubs together..no one will see it. I also read that at some point its easier to put the motor in the frame and finish it that way..strengthens up the frame and makes it less likely to damage the fiddly bits on the motor.. -

Wow..really moving along. I like the idea about the chassis paint..I ordered some semi gloss and will give a third coat as you did..it looks like real metal. As far as the decals..I have some Tamiya stenciling sheets with the grids on it..I'm going to use that and make stencils from the decals and brush it on as was done with the real car..Except for the script Mefistofele..that one will have to be a decal. The rivets look great..I'm tempted...and the radiator came out great..I read a build diary where they remodded it to look more like the real on..said this one is not quite the right shape..but I'm not going there...

The bolts came in so I started back on the suspension..wrapped the springs, added the bolts, weathered. The bolts make such a difference. expensive but I just can't see using screws. And the nuts I have from my eyeglass repair batch fit perfectly..A bit big but covered in paint you wont notice. -
This is great..I'm building the same one and just finished the spring wrapping. I bought bolts from Model motor cars to replace all the screws and they are working out great. Also plan on doing same with the wood parts you are doing. The body rivets...well..thats a lot. The seat looks great..guess I'll copy that as I could definitely do no better. Waiting on supplies has held me up. Brass tubing and various paints. I'm going to try the metal finishes from AK interactive but the brass is held up until the end of the month..Going to try their gold with some black oil paint mixed in..That or some Vallego brass I have. Wondering how to paint the body..They used brushes back then..not sure how that will come out. Using Testors black for the frame has worked out well..its gloppy enough to look like the glop they used back then.

How do you find working with Tamiya paint as far as brushing..I finaly bought an airbrush as it just wasn't working for me..it dries so fast. Great job so far..you got back into it quick..I was away for 30 years as well and was amazed at how it changed as far as materials and techniques..its come a long way. -

If you do buy one and want to improve it..buy stuff before you start. Bolts to replace the screws is the most important..and photetched bolt heads, fittings for the motor..and a lot of good metallic paint. You don't need a lot of colors for this but the body is interesting..It was painted many times..with a brush. A lot of shades of red..even though the original car was black..which you could do..that one had 2 seats. I printed about 60 pictures..I think all that could be found . The directions for some things are totally wrong. The suspension is shown as backwards with the springs in the back the wrong way. -
