gotnitro?
I had heard fantastic reviews about the kit. I decided I wanted a fast easy build , that wouldn't take all summer..and require an addition on the hobby room. Wow the reviews were right ! This truck flew together !! After only an hr I had a rolling chassis mocked up Early on I also decided the kit engine wouldn't be used , choosing instead a supercharged 5.0 Coyote from the mustang gt...now its looking right. jump ahead the next day and my artograph paint booth got called into service ( love this booth) Testors red lacquer w wet look clear poured on in light coats really makes the 70s era flake pop The cab right after clear, a very humid day, the milky appearance hadn't cleared yet. A few days later I mocked everything together for a test fit.. The color is actually darker in person , and will be buffed after a few more curing days Time to get the gut painted tan and detailed
Tom Geiger
Very nice work so far! And yes, that is one amazing kit! Let's hope the new Revell has access to the people who designed this kit!

gotnitro?
Thanks everyone I appreciate your comments The gut is dry , now to detail it up . I'll post a few pics later Any opinions on the wheels ? I painted the spokes w a metallic gray, called model air exhaust manifold..or leave chrome ? I m not sure w the red which looks better

wrenchr
Very clean build, I like the wheels with the gray centers, I think the kit wheels the way they are are to bright.

CabDriver
This is stunning! So, with the wet look clear you’re just laying down multiple mist coats? Or most coats and then a thicker coat? I’d be interested to know your process - your paint looks GREAT!! ?
gotnitro?
Thank you ! I appreciate the feedback CabDriver - my process for painting was 2 mist coats then 2 or 3 moderate wet . I wanted a good tacky coat since the humidity was insane. I nearly always end up w fogging or a milky coat w lacquer, something my buddies remind me to let each coat rest and it will generally clear up. This clear like most lacquer shrink back after curing causing my paint to dull slightly..a light wet sanding and buffing usually helps it pop back Hope that helps
