stevez
Tired of those gloss finishes, I finished a weathered Abrams tank recently, so why not a car? Ground up pastels for the dust (apply wet and brush off later) and my brine: steel wool & vinegar in a jar for a month or so. Hats off to the British modeler for the brine (youtube). Here are the dirty XXX pics, Merry Christmas Y''all ! Edited December 23, 2020 by stevez

Tom Geiger
Looks good, your rust is convincing. One suggestion since you are still working.. anywhere you can see a brush stroke in the weathering (the big one on the roof for example) sand it away in a circular motion. Avoid brush marks or edges to the color difference. I will dab in my weathering and rust, to avoid any stroke marks since it wouldn’t appear that way in 1:
stevez
Exactly I've gone back with circular sanding thanks Tom

misterNNL
Evidently the brine did not have a reaction either your paint? Or did you use a clear coat over the top prior to applying the brine? I am preparing an IH Metro step van for a similar finish so I want to be sure of the correct technique before messing it all up.
stevez
I put directly on tamiya white primer and testor's blue acrylic. No reaction but definitely do a test first to be sure. stevez
Had to enlarge the front side of the rear wheel well as well. Otherwise fits very well thus far.

TarheelRick
Beautiful weathering and an outstanding build. Reminds me of the local dragstrip back in the 60's, many of those cars were built for speed and not for corporate sponsor looks.
AmericanMuscleFan
Very cool weathering finish, very convincing! I would like to be brave enough to embark on this process...
stevez
Engine and interior now done. Thinking of cutting off the front end valance since there's no bumper. Gas tank will be strapped to grill.

Gas tank will be strapped to grill. If you cut the valance off, cut the front fenders also. It is one of the many inaccuracies of this kit. Your build is looking great though Edited January 5, 2021 by Sledsel
