  1. I'd guess he's looking over the side of the car to see where the road is...since the hemi and the front of his car is obscuring his view of the track.
  2. I get a little motivation from car shows on cable tv, lots of new ideas, old ideas re-hashed and interesting concepts to explore. I just watched a show premiere where a 34 Dodge sedan was resto-rodded, I now know what I can do with the Pyro 34 Dodge sedan kit in my stash.
  3. since it's not a new concept I'm guessing there's a reason it's not already in widespread use.
  4. yeah....wind it up to 10k rpms and don't get stuck in yer own cloud of tire smoke.
  5. I can't wait to see how you do that steering wheel cover. waiting to see how this finished out.
  6. sorry for the confusion, I'm too used to later engines where ford added a grommet to the oil filler cap (no matter where it was). based on the photos (both you and I) linked, the PCV goes into a grommet in the passenger side valve cover and connects to a large port on the rear of the carb (or spacer) under the rear fuel bowl.
  7. they are just one of my "go to" places for electronic components but you really have to know exactly what you're looking for or you can waste a lot of time and money ordering the wrong parts.
  8. it should go from the valve cover (usually inserted into the cap where oil is added) to the carb spacer plate/backside of the carb underneath the rear fuel bowl. it will look just fine if you can wedge it under the back of the carb. the hose is usually the same size as the vacuum line that would go to a brake booster (yes...I KNOW this car doesn't have power brakes, I was illustrating the size of the hose.).
  9. spark plug boots are a little on the long side, other than that good job on the wires.
  10. great looking engine, are ya gonna put the PCV hose on also?
  11. don't feel bad, I've been on a 30 year hiatus due to life, other hobbies (I really like building computers...) and lack of space to resume my (30 year old) projects. One of the silver linings is that I get lots of ideas from this forum and the urge to pick up my exacto and get my old projects finished so I can move on to some fascinating ideas I've been percolating.
  12. I know this may be sacrilege but I have a hard time liking any flavor of 959... but then I have a hard time liking just about any new car that hasn't been "retro-fied".
  13. great looking bucket.
  14. I hope Arizona police personnel aren't paid so little that they need to steal hobby supplies.
  15. you have a scar where they yanked the young person out of you?
  16. I have a 1/32 version of that. The brand on the box is Matchbox but it looks like a re-pop of the 1/32 AMT Penske Can Am Porsche. There are still some overpriced sales of these on "the bay".
  17. it's weird that my brain knew what the maker was, I just had to find the year and model. it really is a valid competitor to the other luxury car builders of that time.
  18. when searching for clear LEDs the term "water" indicates a clear top/lens, otherwise it may be diffuse or milky. be aware that ordering clear LEDs doesn't mean you're getting a "white" LED. I have ordered LEDs from the following sources: http://www.superbrightleds.com/ www.mouser.com www.digikey.com be aware that LEDs usually require 1.2vdc to 3vdc to operate (more voltage equals brighter LED but also more heat, LEDs don't get as hot as incandescent bulbs but the do get warm), if you plan to operate multiple LEDs in a circuit it's best to put a current limiting resistor on each LED rather than one for the whole circuit. There are many free LED circuits to be found on the interwebs.
  19. I believe you can be ticketed for going too slow. I remember ages ago in Arizona where a minimum speed was also posted with the speed limit signs, mostly on the freeways where the speed limit was 75mph.
  20. hey man, your inner door handles are on backwards. just kidding. the builds you're posting are awesome, proof of what can be done without a lathe or end mill.
  21. I suggest doing two light mist coats of clear and let them dry totally before putting on a very wet coat of clear. or you could try using future floor wax as a barrier to keep the clear from interacting with the pearl paint.
  22. are you sure Harry uses a bed?
  23. I think it only fair to warn the members here not to drive anywhere near where Harry drives, he seems to be a magnet for idiots and you might get caught in one of his "almost accidents".
  24. you have some very lucky friends, that seems like a LOT of work. nice save/restoration.
